Benefit Cosmetics High Beam Liquid Highlighter Review

Hi IMBBians,

This post is the review of a liquid face highlighter I bought as part of a mini face highlighter from Sephora. I bought it during holidays and I got a good deal on them. I absolutely love the Coverfx liquid highlighters, but they are a little pricey. So, it doesn’t hurt to hunt for an appropriate dupe. Although the product in this review is not a perfect dupes of the one I love from Coverfx, it is still good enough and perhaps can be bought to try something different.

My Experience with Benefit Cosmetics High Beam Liquid Highlighter:

This product comes in a glass bottle with a twist-up cap. The cap has a nail paint like brush which is very unusual for this kind of a product – most liquid highlighters either have a doe foot applicator or a dropper – a nail paint brush is rather absurd. It has one more variant, Sun Beam, which is in golden shade and is meant to add a sun-kissed glow to face.

I expect a liquid highlighter to blend well with the base makeup and add luminosity to face. Finally, after the look is complete it can be further layered on at the high points of face. I did the same with this product and was not over excited about how it performed in both the aspects mostly because, I kept comparing it with the one from Coverfx.

Benefit Cosmetics High Beam Liquid Highlighter Review Product Name

It has the usual glitter particles with a cool pink tint to it. With endless experiments with makeup products, I have come to realize that for highlighter and blush, I should opt for cool tones to not draw attention to my blue under eye area or pigmented area. Hence, the pink tint works in my favor. If this is not the right tone for someone, then there is a warmer tone variant as well – Sun Beam.

I follow the same protocol with all my liquid highlighters. I added it to my base makeup and applied it to high points of my face once my face was done. I dot it on the high points of my cheek points, a tiny amount on the bridge of my nose and residual on my fingers goes on my forehead and my chin. It dries quickly so has to be quickly blended before it sets. I do not like when glitter particles of such products spread all over the place and fortunately, that did not happen with this product. However, it does make pores appear larger but since this is true for most of the highlighters, I can make my peace with it. A pore covering primer is useful in such case. Also, it did not add as much luminosity to my base makeup as the one by Coverfx highlighter.

Pros of Benefit Cosmetics High Beam Liquid Highlighter:

  • A pretty cool-toned liquid face highlighter.
  • Comes in a warm toned variant as well.
  • Bottle is made up of glass and does not feel cheap at all.
  • Adds luminosity to face when mixed with base makeup.
  • Glitter particles do not spread on other parts of face.

Cons of Benefit Cosmetics High Beam Liquid Highlighter:

  • Has a very weird, nail paint like brush for product application.
  • Accentuates face pores and a good pore minimizing primer is required underneath – but this is the case with all the liquid highlighters.
  • Bottle might be a bit bulky for some of us and is perhaps not so travel-friendly.
  • It is a high end product but does not perform as well as Coverfx highlighters, however people who desire very subtle glow can give it a try.

IMBB Rating: 3.5/5
Do I Recommend Benefit Cosmetics High Beam Liquid Highlighter?
It is a pretty highlighter but not a substitute for Coverfx liquid highlighters. People who desire very subtle glow can give it a try. Also, it can be paired with other highlighters to add more glow to face.
