My Experience with Benefit Rockateur Blush
Whenever I used to pass by this beauty during my trip to Sephora or Ulta, I used to be so tempted but for some reason I never got around to swatching it in store as I was pretty sure considering how incredibly pretty this looked I wouldn’t be able to help myself and succumb to the temptation of buying this. So when presented the opportunity to review this for IMBB I immediately jumped on the bandwagon and order this online the very next day.I must say if I had ever swatched this in store I am pretty sure I wouldn’t have bought it and this product left me kind of disappointed. Read on to know why.
I must say the total worth of this product for me is in the absolutely beautiful packaging and the way this product is presented. It comes in a flip top box sturdy box packaging. The lip closes securely and does not flap around. There is a small attached mirror on the inside and there a compartment over the powder to separate the provided brush. The brush has a very unique shape its longer in back and shorter in the front which gives it a half a dome like shape. The brush does perform a good job but since the bristles are not super soft and kind of prickly, I rarely use the provided brush instead use my Real Techniques blush brush for applying this this.
Pigmentation and Color:
The blush inside the box looks like a very beautiful Rose gold color. It has many tiny specks of shimmer hence the product literally glistens inside the box. The engraved word “Rock” with the overlay of the design makes me swoon every time I see it.
Now let’s come to the disappointing aspect of this product which is the pigmentation. This blush basically provides little to no color to my cheeks even when applied heavy-handedly. My skin tone is Light-Medium (Mac NW23) and if this powder has shown up as pigmented as it looks in the box it would have been gorgeous but Alas that is not the case. I like the fact the even with the incredible amount of shimmer in this powder it does not make me look like a disco ball in the sunlight. The shimmers are not very apparent instead it gives the face a beautiful lit from within glow.
Since it has very poor pigmentation it basically should be marketed as a highlighter and not a blush. I do like using this as a highlighter on the top of my cheek also the bridge of my nose and everywhere the light would hit. It works wonderfully when I pair with my other crème blushes as it sets them and improves their wear time.
So this product works great as a complementary product to my other blushes but does not work well on its own.
The blush itself is really soft and smooth and does not apply patchy.
It has an amazing sweet perfume like scent which is strong. Therefore it may bother sensitive noses but for me I love the scent and love the fact that I can smell it on my face for about an hour or so. So along with highlighter it also works as a “Face Perfume” 😛 Overall I would recommend this as a highlight not as a blush. If you are incredibly pale/fair or light skinned it may work as a blush for you.
