Benefit Roller Lash Mascara Review

Hi everyone!

I’m back today with a really exciting review for you all! Benefit has recently come out with a brand new mascara called the Roller Lash mascara. The mascara has still not yet been released in stores, but it will be out soon, so keep a look out for that!

Benefit Roller Lash Mascara

I got this sample size of the mascara from the latest issue of Elle Magazine and I could not wait to try it out! I have only ever tried one benefit product before and that was the much hyped and talked about ‘they’re real!’ mascara. I must admit, I gave into the hype and bought this mascara, but I was left feeling pretty disappointed by it. It didn’t really do much to my eyelashes; in fact I think there are many drugstore mascaras that do a much greater job than that mascara and they are half the price. So, I was a little skeptic about this mascara too, but I was glad to be able to try out the sample size version, which would give me an idea about what the mascara was like and also determine whether I would want to buy the full size version if I liked it.

Anyway, I’m going to go on to the review now, so if you want to know what my thoughts are of this product, please keep on reading!

My Take on Benefit Roller Lash Mascara:

Let me just get one thing straight before I carry on with the review… this mascara is amazing! It is so much better than the ‘they’re real!’ mascara and I won’t be surprised at all when this mascara becomes a hyped up product, because it really does deserve such hype. The concept behind this mascara is curling hair with hair rollers and I personally think it’s a great concept, something that I have not encountered with any other mascara.

Since this mascara is a sample size, it doesn’t come in its original packaging, which runs with the theme of hair rollers and comes with a patterned pink lid, which I think can be likened to the texture of a hair roller! Not only is the lid pink, but the mascara wand is also pink! However, that is more difficult to see as the wand is covered with black mascara, but I still think it’s a nice little touch. The formula of this mascara is really thick and I’ll be really honest with you all, when I first tried this mascara, I wasn’t really a great fan of it because it felt way too heavy and clumpy on my lashes.

However, I have worn this mascara a few more times and I really like it now! I think that perhaps the first time I tried it, I may have layered too much product or there was excess product on the brush head and that’s why my lashes were left feeling so heavy. I have not had that problem since though. Although the formula is pretty heavy, I don’t find it weighs down my lashes and it lasts really well throughout the day.

Benefit Roller Lash Mascara

I don’t curl my lashes before applying the mascara, but the mascara does a pretty amazing job at giving my lashes curl and lift. I personally find that the most dramatic effect it gives to my lashes is the length; my lashes have never looked so long!! I’ve included pictures of my lashes before and after mascara and I hope you can see the difference that the mascara makes. It also separates my lashes and I think it gives a really similar effect to wearing false lashes! This is all thanks to the unique mascara brush head. Benefit describe the brush as a Hook ‘n’ Roll brush because it has small ‘hooks’ which grip and cling onto the lashes. Because of these hooks, I find it really easy to wiggle the brush head from root to tip and coat all my lashes with product.

The brush head is curved, which also helps in separating and curling the lashes and the size of it is not too big or too small, it is just the right sized brush.

The only thing that it doesn’t really do is give much volume to the lashes, I think it is more of a lengthening mascara rather than a thickening mascara, but I don’t see why you can’t layer another mascara on top to give your lashes more volume.
