Benefits and Uses of Night Cream
Your night creams have ingredients which are hydrating, nourishing at a deeper level. Some ingredients in your night cream that are restorative to aging skin, can cause sensitivity with sun exposure, hence such heavier creams need to be applied at night to keep skin safe. Night creams have heavier emollients which can work while you sleep, because your skin might not need so much of coverage during the day, especially if you wear makeup on top of the day creams. These are some basic usage reasons of a night cream, see some more beneficial reasons below.
In case you are happy with your day cream, your skin does not need any more nourishment or moisture than it gets out of your moisturizer, then you dont need to shell out double for your night cream but if you feel your skin needs extra comfort from dryness, then do opt for a night cream.
Your day cream will be lighter and will have SPF content, night creams do not have SPF and hence the usage is different of course. Then again, your creams with anti aging properties, will have retinol and retinyl acetate which can be irritating to the skin during the day, hence your night creams with these would work better at night without sensitivity.
Night creams work in various ways while you get a restful sleep. They treat skin troubles like pigmentation, age spots, wrinkles. It helps with discoloration, makes skin smoother by improving texture and elasticity, increases blood circulation, promoted even complexion and boots collagen as well.To aid these benefits, there will no pollution and sun rays acting upon your skin while night cream works.
Throughout the day, our skin is exposed to free radicals like sun damage, pollution stress and what not, if you think your day moisturizer is packed with antioxidants to combat these radicals, you dont need a night cream, but otherwise to restore skin damage and to reverse premature aging of the skin, you do need a night cream. Daily usage helps to combat uneven complexion and wrinkled skin. The appearance of fine lines, wrinkles and other signs of ageing can be postponed if the right kind of night cream is used and proper skincare regimen is made to complement it.
Night creams mainly fall under two categories, anti aging and deeply nourishing. According to your age, skin type and problems, choose one for your needs. Basically at night, our skin repairs itself, it rests and regenrates, while during the day our skin is in protection mode, hence we wear SPF. To make the most of the rest mode of our skin, night creams come into play, it assists the skin to repair at night while we sleep.
Now that you know why you need a night cream, which is mainly to achive a healthier complexion overall, check for creams with ceramides for collagen production, and vitamins A, C, E or B5 to get the most out of your night cream. See some tips that will help you choose a night cream below:
If you have oily skin, opt for a night cream that is oil free. You may also check out if it contains alpha hydroxy acids or beta hydroxyl acids. Look for non-comedogenic formula in your night cream.
If your skin is dry, look for a night cream that offers you a heavy cream base, meant especially for your skin type.
At the age of twenty, your night creams should contain natural ingredients like aloe vera, honey and essential oils.
Look for night creams with active ingredients like collagen, amino acids, ceramides and retinol, rich in anti-oxidants, when you are in your thirties.
When you are in your forties, you should invest in a night cream that has contents like peptides, retinol, lipids panthenol, collagen, essential oils, ceremides, soy extract and vitamins. It should be able to fight puffiness, wrinkles and pigmentation.
In your fifties and sixties, it is important that you get hold of extra-rich night creams which are tailor made for old and matured skin.
Here is a step-wise guide to the use of night creams:
Cleanse your face thoroughly with a gentle cleanser, suited to your skin type. Pat your face dry.
Apply night cream in gentle upward strokes and circular motions by using your fingers. Avoid the area around your eyes.
Never forget applying the cream in your neck.
