Benjabelle Daisy Brush Tree Review

Super excited today to share a new product and introduce a new brand on IMBB – Benjabelle!! I first heard of the brand was through this article by Neha. I was quite intrigued and when I googled the product, I was pretty sure I wanted it. Finally, I was able to get my hands on it about 6 months back. I have used it quite a lot and here is my review for you.

My Experience with Benjabelle Daisy Brush Tree:

A bit about the Company – it’s an Indie Company from USA. The name Benjabelle has been coined by clubbing of the names of the 2 people who own the Company and designed and produced the product: Benjamin and Jannabelle = Benjabelle. Cute, right?

So what is the product? The Benjabelle brush tree is a unique product in the market. It is basically a brush drying rack, designed to allow you to dry your brushes, right side up! We all know that post washing, it takes ages for some brushes to dry off because we lay them down to dry. We can’t stand the brushes up in a tumbler or something because the water/moisture would flow to the ferrule and dislodge the glue which holds the bristles together. So, we pretty much don’t have a choice and have to put the brushes down on surface to dry which results in 3 concerns:
1. The brushes take longer to dry because one side is exposed to air while the other is still moist.
2. Sometimes the hair bristles don’t fall properly, especially for face brushes – resulting in change in shape of the brush.
3. Finding space to keep your brushes.

I do understand that not everyone has an extensive brush collection to warrant buying this. However, if you do like your brushes and have a half decent collection, and feel the pain each time you wash the brushes – you might want to invest in this.

The Benjabelle Brush tree, consist of a 2 piece acrylic stand – with silicone grippers through which you pass the brushes – ensuring they are in downward position and allowing them to dry like that. It’s a very simple idea which has been executed well. I am just surprised that no other small/big brand felt the need to clone it – except probably Sigma.

There is a whole variety of trees available which can accommodate:
1. Varied number of brushes,
2. Different type of brushes – You can have a tree which accommodates only face brushes or only eye brushes.
3. You even have a swivel thing which can be attached to the foot of the stand so that you can rotate it while fitting in the brushes!

I honestly didn’t know what to expect, so I went with something which was medium sized and had the option of both face and eye brushes. I opted for the Daisy Table. This one has 14 slots/grippers and can accommodate the following:
1. 2 large brushes – like a thick face kabuki brush or a wide powder brush
2. 4 medium brushes – Like your standard blush brush/normal face brush/ highlighter brush / etc
3. 8 Smaller brushes – Like your eye/ lip/ concealer brushes.

Packaging: The product consists of 3 acrylic plates. 2 of the plates form the stand which is made by interlocking the 2 plates in a X formation. The third plate fits on top and is the one which has the silicone grippers. The product was delivered nicely packaged with layers of soft foam between the acrylic sheets to ensure that they down break.

The top sheet with the silicon grippers is slightly heaver than the other 2 sheets. the grippers are placed at a decent distance from each other and are easy to pass the brush through. I have not had an instance of the brush falling through because of lack of grip. the only time its likely to happen is if you try to use one of the wider openings for a thinner brush.

Apparently, this product is available in 3 colours – black, pink and white. However, online its available in the black variant.

Also note, its fairly light and basically needs to be assembled in 2 easy steps. So, it is possible to easily dismantle and carry with you – in case you are going on a trip. However, considering the sheets are acrylic – i would not advise you to do that.

My Experience with Benjabelle Daisy Brush Tree:

  • This particular variant will work very well for normal collection of brushes. I did feel that I, personally, needed more slots for eye brushes than for face brushes because when I do wash my brushes, I generally have about 15-18 eye brushes and maybe only 3-4 face ones. So, I personally felt a need for a bigger tree or maybe one separate one only for the eyes. But, again, for a normal collection, this will do very nicely.
  • I do sometimes pass 2 eye brushes from the medium slot and it holds them well nicely.
  • It’s fairly easy to assemble and use. If you don’t get the locking right, it will topple easily and you may wonder whether it is built right. It is! You just need to get the locking of the plates together correctly. Once the interlock is in place – it’s very sturdy.
  • It’s so much easier to dry the brushes – it does expedite the time taken to dry them.
  • It’s easier to shape the brushes how you want them and pass it through the slot – the brushes retain that shape post drying.

Only one disclaimer – It will help the brushes retain the shape you formed post washing. However, unlike a Brush Guard or a Sigma Tower, it won’t add to the shaping of your brushes. You can obviously put on a brush guard onto the brushes before sliding them into the tree.

Pros of Benjabelle Daisy Brush Tree:

  • Excellent idea – well executed.
  • Great product which identifies and fulfills a need in the market.
  • Sturdy product.
  • Easy to assemble.
  • Decreases the drying time of brushes.
  • Helps retain the shape of the brushes.
  • Prevents water from flowing into the ferrule – assuming that you have put the brushes facing downwards.
  • Easy to use.
  • Easy to store.

Cons of Benjabelle Daisy Brush Tree:

  • Nothing at all.

IMBB Rating:
5/5
Overall Thoughts:
An excellent product. A must-have for makeup/brush lovers, simple in design and execution. I am seriously surprised that there aren’t more companies copying this idea and running with it. Maybe they don’t feel that there is a need for this product in the market. If they but knew!! I’m so glad I bought this!!!Yay!!
