Best Dressed Celebrities: Cannes Film Festival 2014

Cannes 2014 Best Dressed

So, the 67th annual Festival de Cannes has concluded. The world of film and fashion gathered and strutted down the red carpet at Cannes from May 14th to 25 May 2014.  Every year, the wonderful divas from the world of blitz and glamour walk down in their glorious Guccis, Armani Prives, and Elie Saab gowns with long trains and shine bright in their best Chopard and Schwartz jewels. It’s the best time for fashion enthusiasts to admire and take notes.  From India – a bevy of beauties made their presence felt at Cannes – Sonam Kapoor, the all covered up Mallika Sherawat, Frieda Pinto, and yes – Aishwarya Rai.  She made her 10th consecutive appearance at Cannes as L’Oreal Paris’ ambassador and looked breathtakingly beautiful in a golden Roberto Cavalli gown with a long train for the “Two Days, One Night” premiere. She had to miss her first appearance because of the air traffic strike in France and it was a disappointment, but she more than made up for it with her oomph factor and ultra glam appearance.

The world went gaga over her – her outfit, her hair, her makeup, her new slim figure, and her red lips were talked about everywhere – from print media to social media the world over.  There was a slight glitch though – the golden Roberto Cavalli dress that she wore was a repetition of the dress that Kristin Chenoweth had appeared in for Oscars 2014, but seriously, nobody called it a faux pas and nobody really cared because Aishwarya Rai looked gorgeous in the golden outfit – Chenoweth was not even counted in 😛 But this post is not about Aishwarya Rai, here’s a list of the best dressed women at Cannes 2014.  Let’s start with Aishwarya Rai:

Aishwarya Rai Cannes 2014

For her second appearance on the Cannes red carpet, for the premiere of the movie “The Search” – she went in for a white Roberto Cavalli gown embellished with swarovski crystals with n*de lips and subtle makeup. Don’t miss the Chopard earrings.

She was back sporting hot red lips for the amfar gala where she didn’t disappoint at all – she wore an Armani Prive dress and looked beautiful and elegant. For us, all of her three looks were bang on!

Talking about other best dressed divas at Cannes 2014:

Blake Lively was a hit this year too – For “The Captive” premiere – she wore a white and black Gucci gown with diamond jewellery by Loraine Schwartz.

For the premiere of “Mr. Turner,” she wore a shimmer and shine Chanel Couture dress with beautiful lavender shoes.

Blake Lively Cannes 2014

I know, this post isn’t about Aishwarya Rai or Blake Lively, but just one more look of Blake Lively from a gala event. Here, she is in a Gucci premiere dress with a long train.

Salma Hayek looked all pink and pretty in a strapless Yves Saint Laurent chiffon dress. With a matching pink lipstick and loose waves, she looked perfect!

Paz Vega – This actress wore a Ralph and Russo gown with a long train and a huge black rose on her shoulder at the premiere of “A Fistful of Dollars.”

Li Yuchun wore a black jumpsuit sort of thing with a well cut and long cape from Stephen Rolland’s Spring Couture 2014 – it was a super stylish outfit methinks!

Irina Shayk – model and Cristiano Ronaldo’s girlfriend at the Search premiere came covered in a Atelier Versace gown.  Not many were impressed, I think it was different and unique.

Rosie Huntington wore an Emilio Pucci yellow gown with cut outs at the amfAR gala.

One of our favorites, Araya A. Hargate looked gorgeous in a black sequinned strapless Kaufmanfranco gown during the premiere of “The Search.”

Out of the three or four Sonam Kapoor looks – I liked only two – She looked pretty in a powder blue flowing silk Elie Saab gown for the Chopard dinner. She made her first appearance in a sequined and embroidered Anamika Khanna saree outfit with a pearl and gold choker. Her makeup was kept minimal.

Sonam Kapoor Cannes 2014

Eva Longoria at the “Foxcatcher” premiere in a turtle neck sort of brown Vionnet gown which was gathered at the waist. Her hairstyle made her look even more glamorous – a messy side swept braided hairstyle.

Jessica Stain – the wind blew her dress in all directions, but that was when the dress looked it’s best – all flowy and glorious – it was an Elie Saab blue silk gown.

Last, but definitely not the least – Cheryl Cole walked the red carpet in a Monique Lhuillier strapless black gown with a long train.
