Many of us might have made that transition from liquid liners to gel eyeliners now. I prefer gel eyeliners to liquid ones. First, they smudge less than kohl and liquid eyeliners and secondly, I get a better control with a slant brush in hand, making thick or thin lines as I want. I am listing down a few gel eyeliners which have proved their worth and are fast becoming everyone’s favourite, check these out:

Top Gel Eyeliners Available in India
1. Maybelline Eye Studio Lasting Drama Gel Eyeliner (Black):
Price: Rs. 450.
This is my favourite gel liner. I have lost count of how many I have bought and gifted to others. You can get a defined or a dramatic look with this liner. The brush provided is a very good one. The gel is creamy, glides on smooth, does not tug the eyelids. Though the colour is not that intense black, it does not smudge easily and stays put for long hours.
2. L’Oreal 24H Super Liner Waterproof Gel Eyeliner in Brown:
Price: Rs. 825

Soft, buttery texture and glides on the eyelids like a dream, highly pigmented, stays on for long hours, does not smudge or fade away, waterproof, glossy finish, no shimmer or glitter, perfect for office wear, does not irritate the eyes, can be used on the waterline, comes with a brush like Maybelline gel eyeliner, what more do you need from an eyeliner! Though a little expensive at Rs. 825, its completely worth the price. More photos and swatches of this liner here.
3. Make Your Own Gel Eyeliner- Do It Yourself:
If you do not want to invest in expensive gel eyeliner, you can make one for yourself at home. You just need to buy a good-quality liner brush or slanted brush to apply the gel liner. Here’s the complete procedure on how to make gel liner at home with easily available ingredients.
4. Tips & Toes Gel Eyeliner:

This gel liner gives intense black colour, has good staying power, does not smudge easily, comes with a good applicator.
5. Maybelline Eyestudio Lasting Drama Gel Eyeliner in Sapphire:

Winner of many beauty awards including the Elle Magazines Top 5 in 2009, the shade caviar ink is neither super black nor it is not brown, it neither looks too soft nor too harsh. The formula is creamy and it glides on your lids like a dream. The eyeliner stays on until you remove, its smudge proof, water proof and stays all day long. After applying, you can smudge it a little to create a soft smudged effect or just draw a fine line with it. The eyeliner doesn’t dry too fast in the pot. The eyeliner is nicely pigmented. It comes out with an oil based cleanser easily without tugging your pulling your eye lids.

Newbie to gel liners 🙂 bought the maybelline one based on recommendations here but realised too late that its not meant for waterline *waaa* can someone pls let me know if inglot is safe for waterline or any other options?
I bought Maybelline gel liner 1.5 years back and still have it, as i hate to use it. Its so damn dry that i find it difficult to apply. And if your stroke goes wrong while applying, it is even harder to correct it *pan*
Don’t think will ever use gel liner ever again. I am presently using lakme liquid liner..ahh!! so much easier to apply and quick as well.
Hi jomol di.. awesome post.
I really want to buy a gel eyeliner.. and this post is great for beginners like me.
But can you please tell me which of all these can be used on the waterline..? *shy*
lakme gelmatic liner can also b added to this list
