Aloe vera gel
Aloe vera is God’s gift to humanity. Aloe vera is rich in vitamins, enzymes, and antioxidants. It moisturizes the scalp very efficiently and helps to get rid of itchiness and dandruff, which occurs due to dryness.
Take a clean aloe vera leaf and cut it vertically from the center. Massage the aloe vera leaf directly onto the scalp and leave the gel on overnight. Take a head bath the next day. This remedy will make your scalp moisturized.
Coconut oil is highly moisturising and is availabe everywhere. Coconut and its products such as milk, oil etc are very beneficial for hair and skin. Dealing with dry scalp? Check out this remedy.
Massage warm coconut oil on your scalp and leave it overnight. Wash your hair the next day. Coconut oil offers highly moisturizing properties which make your hair shiny and bouncy. You may also add essential oils, like rosemary, lavender, lemon, thyme, ylang ylang etc, to increase the effect.
Coconut milk and fenugreek hair mask
Coconut milk is highly moisturizing for your hair. It makes the hair shiny, soft and glossy. Fenugreek seeds are known for their antioxidant properties and also fight dandruff and infections easily.
Soak a tablespoon of fenugreek seeds in warm water. Next day, add the seeds to a grinding jar and add coconut milk to it. Grind both the ingredients nicely to get a thin paste. Now, apply this mixture to the scalp and massage it for 5 minutes. Leave it on for around 30-45 minutes and then wash it off with a moisturizing shampoo. You can follow up with a conditioner.
Hair oil treatment
This hair oil treatment is amazing to get shiny hair from the first use. It is my personal favourite mask to get super glossy hair. It not only makes the hair shiny and bouncy, it also boosts up the hair growth and adds volume to hair.
Castor oil – ½ tbsp
Coconut oil- 1 tbsp
Neem oil- 1 tbsp
Olive oil – ½ tbsp
Mix all oils in a bowl and microwave it for 10-20 seconds. Apply this mixture of oils on your scalp and hair length. Cover your hair with a shower cap. Leave it on overnight and then wash it off the next day.
Tea tree oil
Tea tree oil contains anti-fungal and anti-bacterial properties which help to get rid of scalp infections and dandruff. There are two ways to use tea tree oil on dry scalp.
Mix 5-6 drops of tea tree oil in your shampoo and wash your hair with it. This trick is quite effective on dry scalp. Or, you can mix 5-6 drops of tea tree oil to 100 ml of water and use it as a final rinse for your hair. This will also keep your scalp healthy and hydrated.
Apple cider vinegar
Apple cider vinegar neutralizes the pH level of the skin. The antibacterial properties fight off the infection causing bacteria. With just one wash, you can notice a decrease in itchiness and flaking of the scalp. The essential nutrients present in ACV nourish the scalp.
You can use apple cider vinegar to treat dry scalp in two ways. You can mix 2 tbsp of apple cider vinegar to 100 ml of water and use it as the final rinse. If you have extra time, follow this second method. Just spray some apple cider vinegar directly onto the scalp and massage it for 10-15 minutes. Leave it on for another 15 minutes and then shampoo your hair as usual.
Sugar and oil scrub
Scalp exfoliation is really important to maintain the good health and growth of the hair. The pores on our scalp gets clogged with dirt, debris and oil residue, due to which our scalp feels itchy. This can further lead to many infections as well. So, start scrubbing your hair with the following scrub once a week to maintain the good health of your scalp as well as hair.
Sugar (½ tbsp)
Rosemary essential oil (3-5 drops)
Lemon (1 tea spoon)
Honey (1 tea spoon)
Mix all the ingredients together and apply this mixture on the scalp. Scrub your scalp very gently for 5-10 minutes. Then, rinse off with water and shampoo as usual. Your scalp will feel instantly clean and fresh.
Listerine and baby oil
Combine 1 tbsp of Listerine with 2 tbsp of baby oil. Apply this mixture on the scalp. Massage it for on for around 5-10 minutes and then wash it off with water. Shampoo, as usual.
Onion juice contains antibacterial and antifungal properties which provide relief from the dry and itchy scalp. Onion provides vitamins, potassium, magnesium and sulphur to nourish the scalp.
Grind 2 chopped onions in a grinder and then squeeze out their juice. Apply the onion juice on the scalp with a cotton ball and leave it on for 20 minutes. Rinse with plain water and follow up with a shampoo.
Shea butter offers amazing anti-fungal and anti-bacterial properties which help to restore the natural moisture of your hair. It also protects the hair from harmful UVA and UVB rays and acts as a shield for your hair.
Massage a little bit of raw shea butter and keep it on for 20-25 minutes before wash. This will provide ample nourishment to your scalp as well as hair.
If you have very dry hair or scalp don’t wash you hair more than two times a week. Also, make sure you use a moisturizing shampoo every time. Try to stay away from anti-dandruff shampoos as well as they tend to dry out your scalp.
