Cracked heels are a result of ignored feet combined with lack of moisure and over exposure of feet. Medically, cracked heels are also known as heel fissures. Pressure on the soles make the feet want to expand sideways. As the skin, surrounding the sides of the feet are dry they crack and cause cracked heels. Cracked heels could also indicate zinc and omega-3 fatty acid deficiency.Lets see what you could do to cure cracked heels in a jiffy, with some awesome remedies below:
Before going to bed, soak your feet in warm water for 15 to 20 minutes. Then use a foot brush and pumice stone to scrub feet and heels lightly. Rinse off your feet, pat them dry, then apply foot cream, salve, body butter, or another thick moisturizer. Slip on a pair of socks if you are worried about grease stains like me.
Use a foot scrubber daily in the shower to avoid an adverse heel situation.Whenever I tend to walk a lot , I make sure I use a foot brush and clean the heels well in the shower when the feet are moist. Rubbing a pumice stone is also helpful in clearing the dead skin.
Apply mashed ripe banana on the dry or cracked heel. Leave it on for 10 minutes and rinse it clean. Do this daily till you see results.
Soak the feet in lemon juice for about 10 minutes. This is like your regular pedicure but I love this one, I mean lemon can do wonders.Apply a light foot cream and leave it on.
Mix Vaseline and the juice of one lemon and rub it into the cracked heels, pull on some socks and sleep with the mixture on.
Mix paraffin wax and mix it with mustard oil or coconut oil and then heat it for some time so that the wax melts properly. Allow the mixture to come to room temperature before applying it on your feet.Check this wax recipe here
Mix one cup of honey to half a bucket of warm water. Soak your feet an relax for twenty minutes, this not only softens the heels and feet but leaves your skin super glowing and moisturized.
Another effective pedicure soak for cracked heels is to soak feer in warm salty water for at least ten to fifteen minutes.Apply a regular cream or foot lotion. This will help you soothe tired feet as well, best done after a shopping spree.
Make a foot pack of honey, rice flour, almond or olive oil mix. Slough it on the entire feet and then rub gently after ten minutes and wash off. keep the rice flour a little coarse if your heels are not so bad, this makes for the best foot scrub ever.
Since cracked or bleeding heels could be trouble, nothing beats this antibacterial neem paste with turmeric mix, apply for ten minutes only on the cracks and wash off, it will work as an antiseptic plus healer too.
Mix raw salt in luke warm water, and scrub your heels sin it as you soak it. It makes for a natural pedicure soak for your feet, and this will exfoliate your feet too.
Mix sodium bicarbonate in luke warm water and soak your feet in it. Wash off with a pumice stone.
Massage your heels with sesame oil before going to bed. This is supposedly the best remedy for cracked heels.
Mix sugar with some oil of your choice and scrub your feet with it.You could use half cut lemon with sugar too to scrub your heels and feet to lighten the darker areas as well as exfoliate heels.
Lastly, try to maintain the heel in better form but using a foot brush in the shower daily to remove dead cells and grime and apply a light non-greasy foot lotion daily before bed, so that the heels never feel ignored.Wear shoes you are comfy in, let your feet breath out of tight fitting shoes. 🙂
