Besides lipsticks, I love eyeshadow palettes. Aren’t they just beautiful – so colourful like rainbow after the rain, like aurora in the sky, like the giggle of a baby or like the blushing cheeks of a teenager girl! I have never been into single eyeshadows since I don’t get any chance to wear eyeshadows often, but still I have a right to keep one fancy palette. BH Cosmetics 88 Color Original Matte Palette contains all the tropical shades you could think of.
Your eyes are radiant masterpieces, and they deserve this classic 88 Color Matte Eyeshadow Palette’s bold strokes of beauty. Eye makeup in buttercup yellows, rich reds, velvety blues and dramatic leaf greens highlight gorgeous eyes. Satin gold, sassy turquoises and plum colors make a fun fashion statement that brings glamour to another level.
The actual price of this palette is $18.75, but BH Cosmetics official website launches sales 365 days a year, varying the price as low as $8.88 at times. But the shipping costs are too high in my opinion, minimum $12.45 for international shipping. Overall, it cost me $21.5 including all. Total net weight is 68.5 gm.
Available range in 88 color palettes is original matte, shimmer, cool matte, cool shimmer, tropical matte, tropical shimmer and neutral palettes.
My Take on BH Cosmetics 88 Color Matte Eyeshadow Palette:
This beautiful and innovative palette comes in a black card box, inside which is a sleek black palette with glossy finish. The upper lid contains a good mirror and two double end sponges; the lower one has 88 small pence size eye shadows, covered with a protective plastic. This is incredibly lightweight. Not travel type but due to light weight, you can tuck it carefully in your bag between fabrics. The shades are very well organized as you can see in the images. I love the arrangement. The only drawback with the packaging is that the lid opens all the way long and rests, without the ability to stable in between somewhere. The website shows the palettes vice versa, I mean the lips topping in mid-way but I am not sure if my piece is defected in this manner.
Texture and Finish:
I love matte eye shadows; they work best for everyday looks to party looks. Then, I prefer satin ones for brow bone and I literally avoid shimmer shades. This palette has mostly true matte shades except 8-10 shades with satiny finish. All the shades have soft and velvety texture, which makes it easy to pick them up on a brush, even a small amount is adequate for colour to show up. It’s easy to blend the colors together as they are soft; I am happy with the blending part. Don’t forget to prep your eyelids with an eyeshadow primer or you may start off blotchy. I haven’t noticed even a tiny bit of fallout so far and no shade has turned to be chalky.
Usually, matte eye shadows suffer from sheer pigmentation unlike the metallic ones; there’s certainly some truth to it, but not with this palette. The dark colours are richly pigmented, the medium ones fairly and even the lighter shades have a decent color show. You cannot say that any shade is poorly pigmented. I have experienced that for most of the shades, one brush pick up is more than sufficient to cover the desired area.
Shades range from breezy blues and sea grass greens, peony pinks and lilting lilacs to sand dune taupe, ocean-splashed greys and orange as summer sunset. The shades are arranged column wise, bottom ones being the darkest and getting lighter as you move upwards. The first two columns house peaches, beige, off-whites and a few yellow. The third and fourth columns are of greens, the fifth and sixth are designated to blues and purples. Seventh and eighth columns decorated with all shades of pink. Ninth column assigned to red, orange and maroons and all the neutrals and few greys and blacks can be located in the tenth and eleventh columns. That’s it :
The colors stay fresh without fading or smearing, so no worries.
I thought those two tiny double-edged sponge applicators pinned parallel to the mirror are useless until recently I read somewhere that they can come very handy with application. When you begin, apply thin layers of eyeshadow with the sponge applicator, and then blend with a brush. Doing that would keep your eyeshadows from falling off the brush onto your face. It works!
