Bharat & Dorris Blusher Shade #7 Review

Bharat & Dorris Blusher Shade #7

Not so long ago, when I was new to the art of bronzing, I wanted to try my hands at it but was unsure what product to pickup – just didn’t want anything too expensive because I didn’t know how good or bad my attempts at bronzing would be. So, while strolling in Infiniti Mall 2 in Malad, I decided to check out Bharat & Dorris (B&D). I already use their T-zone Mattifier as a primer and am happy with the product.

The MUA there suggested me this product and was sweet enough to show me how to apply it. I was sold. Here is my review on the product.

A Bit about the Brand (from the website):

Having completed 25 years in the profession, make-up artist & hair stylist, Bharat & Dorris Godambe have followed their passion and broadened their horizons by endorsing their own brand of cosmetics, “B & D”. While this is the regular international practice, it will be revolutionary for the Indian market, as it for the very first time that India would see make-up artists endorsing their own line of cosmetics.

Bharat and Dorris, who are known for creating the “flawless look”, are one of the ruling icons of the make-up art today. They have introduced a new age of finesse and detail in film, Bollywood, advertisement, fashion show, events like MISS INDIA, MRS INDIA, GLADRAGS SUPER MODEL, FILM AWARDS and many more. Also done numerous covers for fashion, films and lifestyle magazines like Femina, Gladrags, Film fare, Stardust, Cine Blitz, Vogue, Cosmopolitan, Elle, Femina and Verve for celebrities and film actress.

In short, they are our local Kevyn Aucoin, Wayne Goss or Samanatha Chapman! The line consists of makeup, base products, brushes and certain skin care products too. Products can be bought from their outlets or purchased online.

The Product Details (from the website):

Ultra satin and lightweight powder, brushes on to a smooth finish. Perfectly pigmented, color never looks dry or flat and is great for contouring face shapes. Layer up for stronger color, or tone it down.

Price:

INR 450 for 5.2gms product

Packaging:

The packaging is a copy of MAC blushes – it comes in a round black container with a transparent, flip open lid. The transparent lid allows you to see identify the colour. The compact comes encased in a black cardboard box – however, unlike the MAC one, this one does not have a window opening.

Like MAC, the compact does not have a mirror or applicator with it.

Purely FYI, B&D also sells a 6 blush palette – and I have always wondered if the MAC blushes would fit into it…because it’ll definitely be cheaper than the MAC customizable blush palette.

My experience with Bharat & Dorris Blusher Shade #7

Color: The colour is fairly dark – maybe 4 shades darker than my skin tone. When I tried using initially, I had a tough time because I wasn’t able to get the look the MUA had achieved with the same product. It took me a couple of trials to understand that I was using too much product. You have to barely touch the brush to the product and still tap away extra – it is that dark and pigmented. Refer pics for the colour swatch and face application. It doesn’t seem to have any grey in it but a tinge of red. For a beginner – It is a great product to work with as a bronzer or a dark blush.

There is no shimmer or glitter in the product.

Texture: The texture is finely milled and smooth. It doesnot feel chalky. It did not break me out or it accentuate my pores. You have to remember to use it extremely sparingly – it can get too much too soon. Which also means that a little goes a very long way.

Pigmentation: The powder is decently pigmented…the colour in the pan is what you get onto your skin. You need to use sparingly and blend effectively.

Lasting power:The product lasted about 5.5-6 hours on my oily skin.

Cons of Bharat & Dorris Blusher Shade #7

1. I would not advise using this colour all over the face as a bronzer – it will make the skin look muddy and dark.
2. No applicator and mirror with the product
3.

IMBB Rating:

Yes, a 3.5/5 product.

To put things in perspective, this is definitely not the best bronzer or contouring product out there. However, for the quality versus the price, I think it’s a definite winner for someone who wants to try her hand at contouring – like I did – before taking a call whether they should spend INR1500+ for a high end product.
