One of the biggest myths I have heard is that “oily skinned ladies should stay away from face oils” – biggest BS ever. With all thenew innovative oils, all these companies are coming up with, it’s time to make new myths. I had heard about Bio Oil a long time back in one of the glossies. At that time, e-commerce just starting in India and there was no way we could get all these miracle cosmetics here, so when I landed in USA 3 years ago, Bio Oil was the first thing I picked up.

Its unique formulation, which contains the breakthrough ingredient PurCellin Oil, is also highly effective for aging and dehydrated skin. PurCellin Oil reduces the thickness of the Bio-Oil formulation and makes it easily absorbed. A South African project.

My Take on Bio Oil:
From the past 3 years, this has been in my medicine cabinet. I have converted half of my family into using it. I started using it first as a body oil. I had heard so much about it working on stretch marks and skin elasticity. I used it on my cracked feet, cuticles, almost everywhere replacing my daily moisturizer. After about a month of usage, I found that an old burn mark started to fade a bit. Also, my stretch marks looked a tad better, and then I decided to finally let it touch my oily face. Obviously, at first I piled on and it felt “chip-chip” the whole night. Later on, as time went by, I worked around it . These days, I use it in my bi-weekly night facial regimen.
Oily skin : you need one drop each for cheeks, forehead, nose and mouth.
Dry skin : Go to town with it. Trust me!
It gets absorbed super fast as you massage it in your skin, but I would recommend you take a tiny amount at first and then build on it, especially on your DA colletage. If you want to give something to your mom, get her this. This is the reason I haven’t bought a night cream yet and I’m just starting to find an anti-aging something. This is how I use it :
- As a body oil.
- As a foot oil for cracked feet.
- Cuticle oil.
- On my hair as a light oil – I wash it in an hour.
- I mix it with grain sugar as a lip scrub and body scrub.
- Works on burn marks.
- Stretch marks look better.
- Can be used on cracked feet, cuticles.
Twice a week I scrub my face and then massage a few drops on dewy skin before I sleep. I do this especially when I have functions to attend.
Like I said, my mom and in-laws are addicted to this and I recommend it to all my friends who are expecting.
Pros of Bio Oil:
- Absorbs quickly.
- Does not stain clothes.
- Has a pleasant and light fragrance.
- Available in all drugstores and I guess in India too.
- Has not broken me out till date.
- Can be used as a hair oil.
Cons of Bio Oil:
- Oily skin, don’t pile it on your face.
- Your MIL might steal it from you.
Keep one in your stash at all times.
