I have been waiting for such a long period to stop this silent reading on IMBB. I have started visiting this blog regularly for over 4 years. So, finally the wait is over and I am all set to start writing!! I am super excited to read your comments 😀

The product, that I am going to review today is Bioderma Sebium AKN. This was given to me by my cousin from Dubai. He is working in a pharmacy and he gets decent discounts on all products. (I personally feel jealous of him for that reason 😛 )

Price:

$24.95 for 30 ml (When I googled)

First things first, the moment I got it I searched in Google to see how well people have reviewed it. I was puzzled at the end of my googling session because there were mixed reviews about it. So, I had to sit back and try it on myself to see if it works for my skin.

My Skin type: (I believe) Combination skin.

Claims:

Purifying correcting care for skin with blemishes. Restores the skin’s natural clear aspect.
Bioderma: Thanks to its patented exclusive Fluidactiv® complex, Sébium AKN preserves sebum quality, preventing deterioration and thickening, thus effectively reducing the appearance and development of imperfections. A complete treatment, Sébium AKN also treats all the factors responsible for skin imperfections. Kerato-regulating active ingredients cleanse the pores in depth. Zinc gluconate, sebo-regulating and purifying, slows down overproduction of sebum and the proliferation of micro-organisms that cause imperfections. Soothing agents ease red blotches. Sébium AKN smooths skin texture, leaving it clear and purified. It recovers its natural balance.

Packaging:

The packaging is something I am really fond of. A simple small squeezable tube of 30 ml, with a twistable cap for a small nozzle. It is appropriate for you to travel with it. It doesn’t leak or create a mess. It is white in colour and has a medicinal smell.

My Experience with Bioderma Sebium AKN Purifying Correcting Care for Skin with Blemishes:

When this was given to me around 6 months back, I had a pimple free face (even though I had seasonal breakouts, which I don’t mind) and some leftover scars. At first I used it for a few days say; around two weeks when I applied it regularly at night just before going to sleep. The texture of this cream is smooth and can be applied evenly over the skin. You would need only a small amount to apply all over your face. It stings a lot for me, the moment I apply it and it takes around 20 minutes to settle. By the end of half a month of its usage, I started to realise this is not going to work for my scars, so I quitted. But to be mentioned: it neither did any harm to my face in the form of a breakout or anything as far as I can remember. Then after, it lay around safely in my handbag and I nearly forgot about the same.

The Second time I tried this was when I had tried kumkupadi lepam for my scars and It took nearly 1 month for me to realise that the lepam was not doing anything good, but was worsening my acne and giving a rush of fresh pimples and thereby more scars. I thought it is better, if I go back to my neem leaves pack as I still didn’t remember Bioderma. When I was back to hostel where I could only think about wearing a mask 😛 , I was simply going through my bag and found this. I thought of giving it a second try as I could relief myself from the pain of not using it and not doing anything to cure my pimples. I applied it regularly at night where the same sting continues to come and go, but at laaaasstt my pimples were again gone from my face 🙂 and the fresh scars disappeared slowly. And that’s why I love this product and hence this review. About its claim, I do not see any magic on my skin till now as it did not work for my pores yet, but it does work for new pimples and scars.

This product truly comes to my rescue for pimples and I believe each product works differently for everyone. I recommend you to try this unless you have sensitive skin.

Let us sum up the pros and cons.

Pros of Bioderma Sebium AKN Purifying Correcting Care for Skin with Blemishes:

• It worked for me to get rid of pimples and my new born scars 😛
• Nice consistency for easy application.
• Gets absorbed into the skin easily.
• Very travel-friendly (I guarantee on this 😛 ).

Cons of Bioderma Sebium AKN Purifying Correcting Care for Skin with Blemishes:

• Itchy feeling and tingling sensation.
• Pricey for me (seriously, I wouldn’t buy this to see if it works for me. As it was a gift, things were easy 😀 )
• Does not work on old scars.
• About its availability, I think you will truly have to hunt for it in India unless you can buy it online.

IMBB Rating:

4.25/5 (reduced for itching and not working on old scars (call me selfish).

Recommended for all suffering from acne. (Sensitive skin beauties I’m sorry!, it may not be for you).
