As I’m such a face mask lover, I wanted to get hold of the Origins Charcoal Self-Heating Mask. However, it’s not available in Australia, so when I saw the Biore self-heating mask recently, I wanted to try and see as it’s much cheaper. This is by no means a new product – this has been in the international market for a long time, but has recently been re-packaged and slightly reformulated – it’s also new to the Australian markets. I have used Biore pore strips and sunscreen, but other than that, this is a new brand for me which I’m just trying out. From a drugstore price point, this brand is known to perform quite decently.
Melts away dirt and oil that clogs pores. Infused with natural Charcoal, this thermal mask opens pores and draws out dirt. It finishes with a cooling sensation for tingly-smooth skin in just one minute.
My Experience with Biore Deep Cleansing Self-Heating One Minute Mask:
This product comes in a pack of four, each of them are single use. The packing is quite good as the sachet looks like a tube and there is a small opening to get the product out. These masks are also quite tiny for a sachet mask and very handy for travel. I would usually use heating masks only in winter, but my skin was feeling a bit congested recently (might be because of the pregnancy), so I wanted to try this a couple of times. I have oily combination skin which has started to get congested recently and I wanted to draw out the impurities. I’m also aware I shouldn’t be using too many products now and have swapped my usual cleanser and scrub for more natural lines. (Such as Aveda, Burt’s Bees and Sukin). However, on and off, I still use my regular products.
After washing my face with plain water, I applied this mask and massaged for half a minute. This product is quite thick in consistency but applies easily. The product is of ash colour. I left this on for another minute and washed it off with plain water. As soon as I started applying the mask, my skin felt very hot. I know this is a self-heating mask, but never expected it to heat up this much. However, this sensation went away quickly. This mask smells quite synthetic.
When I take it off, my skin is noticeably brighter and my pores look smaller. My skin also feels cool and fresh, it’s an interestingly pleasant tingling sensation. This product doesn’t leave my skin feeling stripped of moisture or too tight when I’m done, but I feel as though it could be a little too drying for people who have extremely dry skin types. I have dry patches on my face but they were not affected by this mask, I quickly followed up with a moisturiser. If you have sensitive skin, you should stay away from this product.
Pros of Biore Deep Cleansing Self-Heating One Minute Mask:
- The packaging is quite good and the sachet is quite handy for travelling.
- Makes skin brighter instantly.
- My skin felt less congested and clear after using this mask.
- My pores appeared instantly smaller.
- Reasonably priced if bought during sale.
Cons of Biore Deep Cleansing Self-Heating One Minute Mask:
- Might not suit dry or sensitive skin.
- I wish this came in a tube as well so we can choose to buy a single tube instead of sachets.
I am really happy with this mask as a deep cleansing mask. I will definitely repurchase this mask, but this is not something I’ll use regularly – maybe once in 2 weeks would be enough.
