Biotique Sunflower Lip Balm Review

Biotique Sunflower Lip Balm

Hello IMBBians,

How is life going on? I hope everyone is great and in the pink of health. My pick for today is a lip balm. As winters are coming near we are in a great need of lip balms. I know we do not stay on Antarctica but still my lips get totally ruined up during winters. The skin area around the lips become totally red and start to chap and when I smile or something it stretches badly and is extremely painful, so prevention is better than cure as we say, I stock up these up before the chilling breezes arrive. So let’s jump to the review.

What Biotique claims about Biotique Sunflower Lip Balm?

Biotique Sunflower Lip Balm moisturises the delicate skin of the lips and keep them naturally soft and supple. The balm helps in maintaining the smoothness of the lip and simultaneously repairs the cracks and chapped skin.

Directions to use:

1. Apply a thick layer on the lips.
2. Use frequently whenever required.

My take on Biotique Sunflower Lip Balm:

I am a big lover of lip balms and irrespective of product or brand I just cannot resist picking up a lip balm. They take a long time to finish and whenever a new one comes up the old one goes in the cupboard. I have used the biotique aloe vera lip balm and had good results with that one so was expecting a good result from this one too.

This one does not come in a cylindrical bottle like the other lip balms, it comes in a huge tub very environmental green in colour and has a big picture of sunflower over the top of the lid. The tub is pretty big to carry as far as convenience matters because it is very handy to carry the other cylindrical bottle lip balms but this cannot be carried with that much ease however it will fit in a big bag. Now what colour would you expect from a lip balm made from sunflower, I was expecting the balm to be either creamy or very sheer in colour but luckily I was so happy to see that the lip balm was red in colour *woot* . There is a rim inside the pot and inside in a circle lies the blood red lip balm.

Before trying it I sniffed it once but sadly I would say that it smells pathetic. It smells like some cooking oil mainly depicting sunflower oil or something. First when I saw that it was red in colour my happiness meter went up and then when I smelled it; it went absolutely down. But I was yet to try it. I took a little amount on my finger and applied it all over my lips. The red coloured that appeared on my lips was so cute and natural looking. It gave an immediate rosy glow to my lips which I loved and it was so easy to spread the lip balm on the lips and glided very smoothly. My lips felt very hydrated the very moment I applied it and they felt really soft. The reddish colour lasted on my lips for about an hour and then it slowly started fading. It gave a subtle shine of a gloss. But after 2 hours it vanished completely leaving my lips soft and well hydrated. Sad part is that it does not contain SPF and I would prefer to use a lip balm with SPF.

Pros of Biotique Sunflower Lip Balm:

-Available in stores and online too
-The quantity is really good
-It is a tinted lip balm and gives out a nice glowing red colour to the lips
-Gives balanced colour as well as shine
-Glides very smoothly on the lips
-The consistency is not that thick so will not feel heavy on the lips
-Heals the chapped lips and leaves them soft
-Lasted for 2 hours which is good I guess for a lip balm
-Contains tonnes of natural ingredients

Cons of Biotique Sunflower Lip Balm:

-No SPF presence
-Comes in a pot so has to be applied with the fingers which would be messy at times
-The pot is huge so wouldn’t fit into sling bags however they will adjust into bigger ones
-It is not going to help people with very dry and extremely chapped lips due to a thin consistency

Will I repurchase/ recommend Biotique Sunflower Lip Balm?

I would recommend it to people who have moderately chapped lips and who want a treatment+colour for their lips. It is almost like the Maybelline cherry kiss but the quantity is far more and people with pigmented lips consider this as a total miss because it will not show that red colour perfectly on your lips. I will not buy this again as I get easily bored with lip balms so would pick a new one next time.

is it still available? i thought it was discontinued..i have used this lip balm for the longest amount of time during my school college days. i have lost count on how many tubs i have used. but now i have moved onto tbs balms.
little experience i wud like to share – strangely, every batch smelt and felt different.. some less pathetic, some more, some plasticy, some petroleum..some felt stale/expired too. i did like the moisturisation it provided coz few years back only vaseline lip guard and a 1-2 others were avaible. way better was biotique. i cudnt afford tbs that time.
however i feel biotique’s almond lip balm is also good!

  6. with your review i am liking the product, but as it is in a pot i don’t think i’ll be comfortable to use it. with my long nails, it really becomes difficult to apply products from a pot and using a brush every time i want a lip balm, does not seem practical to me *ghost* but i want to try this *drool* ….do they have something similar in a tube form ?

    1. I don’t think so that they have something in a handy form and they do have one or two variants but they are sad rofl *hihi* even i have long nails and i know it is not manageable actually *headbang* but try lotus rather *happy dance* their chapsticks are great especially for winter *happy dance*

  7. hey cutiepie.. perfect pouts and swatches.. *clap* *jalwa* packaging is so cute naa.. *happydance* I wud love to have it for tint and cute jar as well.. *happy dance* *happy dance*
