I reviewed “Beetroot” from this line earlier and really did like the formula. However, I was dithering from buying another lipstick because, I just wanted to avoid buying ANY more lipsticks. And then, this happened. So, let us find out how “Sugarcane” performed for me.

The amount of product is distinctly higher than what a normal bullet holds – which is anything from 3–3.5 gm.
My Experience with Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche Lipstick Sugarcane:
Packaging: The packaging is fairly simplistic and yet distinctive. This lipstick comes in a charcoal grey rubberised packaging. The cap has a lip cut into it, which makes it distinct. The bullet has the normal roll-up mechanism with the cap locking in securely. The bullet comes packaged in a cardboard box, which again is distinctive. The bullet itself is lightweight and easy to travel with.
Shade: The shade “Sugarcane” is described by the company as “pale pink”. It is a light, soft pink shade, with neutral undertones and looks almost pastel pink in some lights. It has a satin finish. It is not unbecoming as most pastel shades are on lips. But, it is a bit too pale for my light to medium skintone. I am able to carry it off, if I balance it with a heavier or more colourful eye look. This would probably look very pretty on fair to light skin. I do not feel that it would be flattering for deeper skin, as the pastel-ness would seem more apparent on deeper skin.
Texture: The texture of the lipstick is in line with the that of the shade “Beetroot”. It is creamy and gives a glossy/satiny finish to the lips and yet the lipstick doesn’t seem to “glide” on – which normally a creamy lipstick would. I’m not saying that the lipstick is dry. I am also not saying that the texture is bad. It is just different. I rarely see a creamy lipstick which has a satin finish, but doesn’t have the slip. The texture is fairly lightweight and creamy, but it doesn’t settle into the lip lines. Something about the texture (while applying) makes it difficult for me to apply this with smooth outer lines. I always feel the need to line my lips to get a clear lip line. Post application, feel of the lipstick is comfortable, but this one did not seem particularly hydrating. Being creamy, it does transfer.
Pigmentation: The pigmentation of this is good and yet I feel that I have to layer it a little to get even coverage. The paleness of the shade coupled with the creaminess of the texture can make it cling to accentuate dry patches a little.
Lasting power: Though the lipstick has good pigmentation, the paleness of the shade contributes to its wear time. This gives me about 4-4.5 hours of wear as against the shade “Beetroot” which lasted me a whole day. Also, there is no stain left behind. So, there is no illusion of the colour lingering on either.
Fragrance: There is a distinct sweet fragrance like that of vanilla cup cakes. It could definitely be an issue for someone who has a sensitive nose. I’m not too fond of it, but find it tolerable because, it dissipates fairly quickly.
Pros of Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche Lipstick Sugarcane:
- Soft pale pink shade.
- Good pigmentation.
- Lightweight texture.
- Food grade ingredients.
- Glossy finish without being too thin or sinking into fine lines of the lips.
- Opaque coverage.
- No feathering or bleeding.
- Distinctive, light packaging – easy to travel with.
- Cruelty-free.
- Free from parabens, sulfates, phthalates.
Cons of Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche Lipstick Sugarcane:
- Slightly difficult to apply around the lip line as the lipstick does not glide on – despite being creamy.
- This shade was not drying but not hydrating either.
- The wear time is about 4-4.5 hours – just sharing this as information and not a con as the company has not made any claims regarding the wear time of the product.

Do I Recommend Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche Lipstick Sugarcane?
I really wanted to love this one as I enjoyed the shade Beetroot. But, I can’t say that I do. While it may make for a lovely shade for fair skin tone, I cannot recommend it for anyone with medium to deeper skin. Also, they do have some lovely neutral shades in the range (apart from some hot colours). So, one does not need to compromise. You can easily pick up a more suitable neutral shade from the range.
