My Experience with Bite Beauty Cashmere Lip Creme – Bordeaux:

As soon as there is a fall in temperature at the onset of fall/winter, along comes the season of dark lips. This is the most popular trend in the makeup and is consistently carried out year after year. I myself wanted get aboard the dark vampy lip trend for quite a while, but having always been a pink/coral lip fan, I felt dark lips were way out of my comfort zone, but this year, I finally decided to take the plunge.  I had always loved the Bite beauty brand and love their aesthetic sense of making lip products which are safe enough to eat, i.e., using food grade ingredients which only makes sense as most of us tend to eat our lipstick unknowingly.

Packaging:

The lipstick comes in a see-through plastic tube with that rubberized sort of material on the top. It gives a good grip. The applicator wand is very unique. It is a flat two sides wand. Both sides can be used to apply the product and it picks up quite a generous quantity in one dip. This very different wand does take some getting used to, but once you get a hang of it, I do find application very easy and precise.

Shade:

The Shade “Bordeaux” is a very deep burgundy with hints of purple and red undertone. This is the shade which in my mind is exactly the shade appropriate for fall. It’s just the right amount of deep darkness without it looking too Goth or vampy.  The finish is not to shiny nor too matte. It is definitely less shiny than creme sheen lipsticks and the shine tends to keep on reducing as hours pass by, but it never turns truly matte.

Texture:

The lip creme is neither too thick nor too thin. It glides and spreads easily and does not settle into the fine lines on the lips. It feels hydrating and moisturizing for the first few hours of wear after which it dries down but the lips don’t really feel parched. I love the feel of this on my lips. It truly feel like cashmere, incredibly smooth and soft. Its feels very lightweight and sometimes you can even forget you have anything on your lips.

The only huge con I have found with this product is that it seems to bleed heavily around the outside of my line. The bleeding starts to occur about half an hour after I initially apply it. I find this problem can be fixed with using a lip liner underneath or another neat trick is to use a concealer brush and some concealer and clean up the edges of the lips before the bleeding starts to occur. Since the tiny cracks are being filled with the lip liner or concealer, the bleeding does not occur.

Pigmentation and Staying Power:

These lip cremes are incredibly pigmented, especially with a dark color like this. It deposits 100% color with one swipe.  Staying Power is amazing. The lip creme lasts on me 5-6 hours without touch ups.  It even survives snacking and to some extent, with a full meal, only fading occurs on the inside of the lips. After fading, it tends to leave a strong tint on the lips which can only be fully removed by a makeup remover.

Fragrance:

I cannot detect any strong or any noticeable fragrance.  I am overall very pleased with this product and particularly this awesome shade. The only biggest con for me is the bleeding which can be fixed, so I am okay with overlooking this con.
