Bite Beauty Coulis Matte Creme Lip Crayon Review

Bite Beauty – one of my favorite brands this year, with so many awesome products to choose from. This time I’m reviewing one of their Matte Creme Lip Crayons. Matte lips have been really popular lately and these lippies will keep you right on trend. Matte lips are also super work appropriate and I feel that I can pull off even dark or berry lips with subdued eyemakeup. Bite Beauty is famous for their food-grade ingredients. However, they never compromise on pigmentation or performance. These are honestly my favourite lipsticks. I reach for these, despite having similar shades in other brands. Let’s get to the product now. 😀

Price:
$24 for 0.05 oz

Claims:
BITE’s latest breakthrough formula boasts a collection of beautiful nudes, striking reds, and deep burgundies with a matte yet moist texture. The secret is the moisture-locking power of orange peel wax along with the antioxidant properties of resveratrol. The colors are water-resistant, and long wearing.

Ingredients:
-Resveratrol (5mg): Acts as an antioxidant.
-Orange Peel Wax: Naturally protects and seals in moisture while providing a waterproof layer on the surface of lips.
-Organic Fruit Butters, Jojoba, and Castor Oil: Leave lips super-soft and hydrated.

My Experience with Bite Beauty Coulis Matte Creme Lip Crayon:

Packaging:
The lip crayon comes in a sleek, grey twist up tube packaging. The product can be twisted all the way up and back down. It’s a matte grey with a matching cap, so you can’t see what colour you’re picking if you have a bunch. I do, and I found it a bit annoying. They could have added the shade color on the bottom base. You can, however, see the shade when you open it. The bottom denotes the shade name. All this being said, the tube looks really classy. One of my guy friends even commented that he loved the way it looked. He thought it was some kind of weapon (yeah, guys are dumb!).

Shade:
The shade is called “Coulis”. On the site, it is described as “raspberry red”. On me, it is a pretty cool toned red. This shade leans towards cool. It is similar to NARS Velvet Matte Pencil in Cruella; while the NARS pencil is a bit drying, this one has a satiny finish that’s easy on the lips. It has excellent pigmentation and one swipe will cover all kinds of lips. It lasts on me for 3-4 hours.

Texture:
This is a creamy lipstick that goes on without dragging. It settles to a satin and then to a matte finish. I do notice that some shades may settle into the lines if I neglect to exfoliate. It does not dry out my lips, but does not add moisture either. I don’t need a lip balm with this. I love the way it feels and it is one of the most comfortable lipsticks I have ever tried, and I reach out for it almost every day. One of the best things about it is how easy it is to apply, with the thin bullet. I am hooked!

There is a very signature scent with these lipsticks. I can sort of describe it as lemony, slightly herbal scent but it doesn’t bother me at all as it fades. There’s no taste.
