I was really excited to try out this Bite Beauty product. Am I still excited after using it? Read on and see!
What it is:
A 100 percent natural, moisturizing formula that instantly preps, plumps, and primes the lips.
What it is formulated to do:
The silky, weightless primer contains lauroyl lysine and silica to naturally nourish lips, retain long-term color, and prevent feathering. Resveratrol, jojoba oil, and argan oil condition and smooth, while the perfect amount of mint plumps for naturally sumptuous lips.
My Experience with Bite Beauty Deluxe Line and Define Lip Primer:
The product comes in a greyish black crayon with just a band of colour at the base. The colour on the band and stick inside looks a bit yellowish. Mine has 0.87 g of product. This is not a lot, but has lasted me a month or so, and there is still quite a bit of product left. The tip of the stick is quite pointed, but the point wears off (initially it gives a lot of precision) as you continue to use it and becomes rounded. But since precision is not really necessary, it is OK. The cap is quite tightly fitted, and clicks open and shut. I would say it will not come apart if you travel with it.
The consistency of this one is quite waxy and is tacky to the touch. This tackiness means it will hold on to the product better. It takes a slight bit of effort to get it to spread on the lips and I find myself layering it on and on a bit. I have to tell my brain to hold back because one layer, I think, is enough. It is not very moisturising and if you have extremely chapped or dehydrated lips, I suggest using a lip balm, then lightly blotting it, then using this primer.
It does leave a bit of white cast, which means it will make the product that you put on top become more “true-to-colour”. But it is important to keep in mind that if you are using a sheer lip product on top, this can lighten that shade a bit. Because it is clear/whitish, you do not have to buy a matching lip liner for every shade of lipstick you own. It will work for all shades, so you end up saving money.
How Does it Work?
I wanted to test this product with the one product that feathers like there is no tomorrow : my Visée lipstick. This product is extremely creamy, extremely pigmented and feathers almost instantly upon application. The only way I use it now is as cream blush. So did the experiment work?
Well it increased the wear time a little bit, but could not prevent feathering. There was a lot of obvious feathering unfortunately. As for other products I use, I would say, it kind of works. It does extend the wear time of my lip products by just about a couple of hours. But it has not revolutionised my routine by any means.
Pros of Bite Beauty Deluxe Line and Define Lip Primer:
• Extends the wear time of lip products by a couple hours (for me)
• It is whitish in colour so you can use it with any shade of lipstick
• Consistency is a bit tacky, so the lip product really clings on to it
Cons of Bite Beauty Deluxe Line and Define Lip Primer:
• Not moisturising
• Little difficult to spread on the lips – slightly thick texture
• Did not do much – does not stop feathering for me
Would I Recommend Bite Beauty Deluxe Line and Define Lip Primer?
This is not a must-have by any means; this is more of a nice-to-have in my book. So if you have the money to splurge and the interest/curiosity to try such a product, go for it. My experience, as you can see, is quite mixed. I will not be repurchasing.
