Bite Beauty The Multistick Papaya Review

Hey lovely ladies,

I reviewed Bite Beauty Multistick in the shade “Almond” for you, a while back. I really did like the formula a lot and the shade itself was fairly effortless, I could just pop it into my bag for quick application on lips and cheeks – on the go. So, I went ahead and picked up a couple more shades to try. Did these multisticks live up to the easy effortlessness of my previous experience – let’s find out!

My Experience with Bite Beauty The Multistick Papaya:

Packaging:  The Multistick comes packaged in a typical Bite Beauty black lipstick packaging. It looks like the rubberised packaging NARS has, but it isn’t the same, and thank God! The multistick is packaged like a lipstick bullet with a twist-up mechanism. The only difference is that this does not have a slant lip indentation like lipsticks usually have. The product cap seems to click securely in place, but if it falls down – the cap instantly comes off. It comes packaged in a beige cardboard box.

Color: The shade, “Papaya,” is  described as a “fresh coral with rose.” I do not get how this shade is named Papaya or how it seems coral to anyone. It is a medium, warm-toned pink with hints of rose. It is quite a pretty pink – on lips as well as on cheeks.

As a blush – The shade works well as a blush, imparting the “pink of health” look to the cheeks. It actually looks pretty as it gives a youthful look to the cheeks. Apply it to the apples of your cheeks and you are good to go!

As a lipstick – I found it flattering on my light to medium skin tone. It pairs well with the same blush shade without looking over the top or clownish.

As an eyeshadow – This really isn’t the colour I would use on-the-go on my eyes. Yes, I have used shades of pink on my eyes before – mostly powder formulations, in conjunction with other shades to give variation. When in the form of a multistick – it is supposed to be single shade on the eye – on the go! I don’t see most people using this on their eye – on the go!

Texture: I really like the texture of the shade “Almond;” however, I was surprised to see that the texture wasn’t consistent in the line. Papaya is a bit of a letdown. It is less emollient; more powdery in texture, which makes it difficult to use – both as a lipstick or on cheeks. It isn’t a dud, but it isn’t something which I would drop into my bag for easy application either.

When used as a blush – I found the product had lesser slip than the shade “Almond,” which made it a bit difficult to blend effortlessly. It can end up looking patchy – so takes a bit more effort and reapplication to get a smooth-looking finish. The good part is that once set, it isn’t tacky. It sets and does not seem to slide around during the course of the day. It gives me decent wear time for a cream blush – about 6-7 hours or so.

As a lipstick, it does not have a smooth glide as it is drier and more powdery in texture. However, it does cover all my lip pigmentation. It looked more dry than it felt on my lips. It does not seem to create dry patches on the lips, but isn’t flattering over time either. It does not feather or bleed.

As an eyeshadow, again I found it difficult to blend out as the texture is distinctly drier. Also, on my oily lids, it turns into mush in an hour or so. This won’t work as a long-wear cream base eyeshadow for the lids.

Pigmentation: Excellent pigmentation, goes opaque in a single swipe. Blending it does not make it disappear from the cheeks either.

Lasting Power:  Lasting power depends on how you use it. As a blush – it gives me 6-7 hours wear, which may not be stellar; however, considering my oily skin, it’s excellent. As a lipstick, I get about 6-6.5 hours same wear time. Surprisingly, it even survived my meal, which I just wasn’t expecting. As an eyeshadow, the wear time reduces drastically because of my oily lids.

To sum this up for you:

Pros of Bite Beauty The Multistick Papaya:

  • A pretty, fresh-looking, medium pink shade.
  • Good pigmentation.
  • Easy to apply from the tube.
  • No feathering or bleeding.
  • Hides lip pigmentation well.
  • Decent wear time on lips and cheeks.
  • Edible ingredients.
  • No parabens, sulfates, phthalates.
  • Opaque coverage.
  • Distinctive, light packaging.
  • Cruelty free.

Cons of Bite Beauty The Multistick Papaya:

  • Not the ideal colour for the eyes – if used on its own.
  • Not too emollient – has a stiffer/powdery texture which takes a bit of effort in blending.
  • This shade looked dry on the lips.

IMBB Rating:
3/5
Overall Thoughts: I felt quite letdown by the fact that the texture is not consistent with that of the previous shade that I had tried (Almond) and this aspect makes all the difference. It is anyway difficult to get the formula for a Multistick right because the product has to work on cheeks and lips both (if not the eyes as well!) And more often than not, a multistick product can either get too emollient for the cheeks or to dry for the lips. However, in this case – the formula is not the best for either scenarios. I would not suggest picking this one.
