Today I’m going to be reviewing a Bobbi Brown product. It’s from their Art Stick range. The Art Sticks are like jumbo pencils cum lipsticks. These sticks promise to do the work of a lipliner and lipstick, giving a creamy matte finish.

My Experience with Bobbi Brown Art Stick Dusty Pink:
I bought this product in the hunt for something that had a matte finish, a neutral colour and something that lasted long and didn’t require a lip liner. I have a lot of pigmentation on the corners of my lips which can only be covered with a lip liner properly, but it’s tedious to always use a lipliner. It’s safe to say, I found what I needed.
Let’s talk about the packaging first. The Art Stick looks like a chubby pencil that is perfectly sized to fit into your makeup pouch. It comes with a plastic black cap that is quite sturdy and won’t suddenly open loose in your pouch. If you buy these individually there’s no sharpener provided but you can buy one separately.
The colour Dusty Pink is a cool toned pink. This is where I regret the purchase. I’m an NC42 and Dusty Pink looks too pale on me. In the store, it looked neutral but in the sunlight it’s far too pale on my skin. To remedy this, I usually use a mid tone brown lipstick over the Art Stick.
The swatch on my hand looks warmer but on my lips it’s much lighter. I did try wearing it out a couple times by itself anyway but the colour doesn’t flatter me in the slightest. This shade would suit lighter skin tones much better.
However, except the colour, I love everything else about this product. The pencil form makes it so fun and easy to apply. The coverage is excellent as it gives me an opaque finish in one swipe of the product and doesn’t need to be layered or built up too much. It goes on creamy matte rather than giving a completely matte finish.
The staying power is great. It lasts for about 7-8 hours, without smudging or feathering. If you have a heavy meal it will fade slightly. One thing I don’t like is that it fades from the centre first but it survives snacks and coffee without fading much. The lipstick is not transfer proof, and it does transfer a little bit once after application.
There’s a certain chemical smell to it but it’s not disturbing unless you actually take a whiff of it. If you have a sensitive nose like me though the smell may bother you, however, it goes away in a few minutes after application.

• Dusty Pink is too light a shade for me

Summary:
I love the formula and the packaging and everything about it except the colour, so I might definitely go back to purchase this but in a more flattering colour.
