Today, I would be reviewing Bobbi Brown Long Wear Gel Eyeliner in the shade “Chocolate Shimmer Ink” in this post.

Usage:
Dip the tip of the Ultra Fine Eyeliner Brush into Long-Wear Gel Eyeliner, being sure to coat both sides of the brush. Wipe off any excess on a tissue. Working quickly, apply liner in short, even strokes close to the lash line, from the inner to the outer eye corner.

My Experience with Bobbi Brown Chocolate Shimmer Ink Long-Wear Gel Eyeliner:

Packaging: The packaging of Bobbi Brown Long-Wear Gel Eyeliner is similar to L’Oreal Infallible Gel Lacquer Liner. The product comes in a thick glass jar with a black screw top plastic cap. The jar is triple in size compared to the actual product that’s inside. I did expect the product to come with a brush, but there’s no brush; even drugstore gel liners that are half the price come with an applicator :/

Shade/Pigmentation:  Bobbi Brown describes the shade as a dark red brown, which is an apt description. The shade is a chocolate brown shade with red undertones. The shimmer particles are not chunky or gritty, but are very fine and provide a nice sheen to the shade. The product is pigmented but not too opaque and the intensity can be built easily without the liner looking cakey. I do have to go over a couple of times to make the shade show up on my eyelids. But yes, the shade would look really pretty on lighter skin tones. On darker skin tones, the shade will not even show up properly. This color does not look harsh, looks very muted, which makes it apt for office wear.

Application: The formula is very smooth and creamy and glides on like a dream. The liner has very creamy, smooth texture and is very easy to apply. I really loved it and it clearly defines the difference between using a drugstore brand and a high-end one. I have had it for a couple of months now and there has been no change in its consistency.

Staying Power:  Glides easily on my lids and stays there, primer or no primer! I have kept it for 12 hours straight and it did stay put without any smudging or flaking, with just a little fading. I even washed my face (with water) and the liner did not budge (but that was the case when I used it here in the US). I wore the shade when I was in India and the product did transfer a bit onto my oily lids and also budged a little, but in the smoldering heat where even I was melting away, I really can’t blame the eyeliner. 😉

Would I Repurchase/Recommend Bobbi Brown Chocolate Shimmer Ink Long-Wear Gel Eyeliner?
Well, I liked the quality of the product but the shade is not really for me. I will not repurchase this one, but would like to try the other shades though.
