Hey Gorgeous Gals,
The Bobbi Brown series continues on IMBB with another lip shade up for review from the Crushed Lip Color line. This is one of the hot sellers from the range. Let’s find out if it worked for me or not.
What it is:
An all-new lipstick formula that delivers a just-kissed stain effect in one swipe.
What it does:
Loaded with soft matte pigments for high color payoff with a blotted-down stain effect and formulated with vitamins E and C and beeswax, this lipstick glides on comfortably and leaves lips hydrated and kissably-soft. The long-wear formula gives lips color without feeling heavy, for a un-lipstick look and feel that doesn’t feather or fade. Swipe once for a pigment-rich, stained effect or more for a fuller-coverage look—no mirror required.
What it is formulated WITHOUT:
What else you need to know:
This product is free from titanium and other ingredients that add weight and give opaque coverage.
-Swipe on bare lips for a blotted-down look.
-Add two or three more swipes for more intense color payoff.
My Experience with Bobbi Brown Crushed Lip Color Babe:
Packaging: The brand kept the packaging in line with the Bobbi Brown aesthetics by doing a cuboid back casing and yet gave it a fun and efficient twist. Each of the lipsticks has a colour-coded band which extends to the lipstick tube itself.
The colour of the band corresponds to the colour of the lipstick inside. So, if you have more than one of these, it’s easy to identify the shade from the packaging itself – plus it looks more fun and vibrant.
The lipstick bullet is a regular twist-up with the cap clicking soundly into place. The lipstick bullet is indented which allows better precision in application. It comes packaged in the usual black cardboard box.
Shade: Described by the company as a “mid tone pink.” The shade, Babe, is a light to medium, ever so slightly warm, clean, pretty pink shade. This is the kind of shade you want your lip balm to build upto and it never does! It is bright without being too vibrant, it is effortless without being a n*de or a neutral shade. This is the kind of shade, which would get categorized as Lovely! Because it is so pretty! It’s a Pretty Pink! This could easily work for a variety of skin tones as an everyday shade.
Texture: The formula of the lipstick is consistent with the other shades like Angel, Lilac, etc. The lipstick has a lip balm like texture which allows it to glide on effortlessly, but does not have too move slip where it would slide out of the lip line either. It deposits pigment evenly. It is almost like a lip balm with buildable pigmentation. It has a lightweight texture and it is moisturizing and definitely hydrating. The lips look youthful. It fills in the lines on the lips and makes them look more hydrated.
What is most remarkable about the lipstick is that the texture does not build up even when the pigment does. Meaning, normally if a lipstick is not too pigmented, we build the colour by adding more swipes. However, as we add more swipes, we also end up depositing more product which adds texture to the lips and if the lipstick has a cream/satin texture, the product would end up sliding around on the lips. However, that does not happen with this lipstick. I assume it is because the texture is so lightweight.
Pigmentation: A single swipe gives a soft stained look to the lips. However, The colour can be easily built up – this means about 5-6 swipes at least. My lip swatches and FOTDs are with built up colours so that you can appreciate the difference between 2 shades. However, I have shared arm swatches where one side is a single swipe of the lipstick and the other side is with multiple swipes. This will enable you to understand how low the pigmentation is and how rich it can be built up.
Lasting Power: When used as a single/double swipes, I get just a couple of hours of wear. With multiple swipes, and the colour at full intensity, this shade gives me about 4-4.5 hours of wear and barely leaves a stain. It wears off evenly and does not get patchy.
Fragrance: There is a slight perfume fragrance, but only when I put my nose to it. I did not feel it while applying.
To sum this up for you:
