The Bobbi Brown Crushed Lip journey continues. I have reviewed the shades Punch, Angel and Sunset for you. Today’s review is on the shade “Cabana” which I had a tough time getting hold of because, it was constantly out of stock both in online and in store. Well, now that I have it, let us find out more about it!

My Experience with Bobbi Brown Crushed Lip Color Cabana:
Packaging: The brand kept the packaging in line with the Bobbi Brown aesthetics by doing a cuboid back casing and yet gave it a fun and efficient twist. Each of the lipsticks has a colour coded band which extends to the lipstick tube itself.
The colour of the band corresponds to the colour of the lipstick inside. So, if you have more than one of these, it’s easy to identify the shade from the packaging itself – plus it looks more fun and vibrant.
The lipstick bullet is a regular twist-up with the cap clicking soundly into place. The lipstick bullet is indented which allows better precision in application. It comes packaged in the usual black cardboard box.
Shade: The shade, Cabana, is a medium, warm toned, grapefruit pink shade. Like the shade Punch, this too is one of my favorites in this line, even though it is so different from the shade Punch. I have started liking such shades a lot. They are unobtrusive and yet flattering giving a fresh and youthful appearance to your look. I feel that it is an easy to wear shade – something which could go with a plethora of looks. Other shades in the similar category (not Dupes) for me would be – Kat Von D’s Double Dare and Lolita 2 and Huda Beauty’s Icon. While none of these shades are dupes of each other, but for me, they kind of fall in the same category of shades which are easy to wear, not quite neutral and are flattering on our skin tone.
Texture: The formula is consistent to the other lipsticks that I reviewed earlier. The formula does not feel creamy, instead, it feels like a lip balm texture. The lipstick glides on effortlessly but does not have the slip where it would slide off out of the lip line either. It deposits pigment evenly. It is almost like a lip balm with buildable pigmentation. It is definitely hydrating. The texture is very lightweight and moisturizing. The lips look youthful. It fills in the lines on the lips and make them look more hydrated.
What is most remarkable about the lipstick is that the texture does not build up even when the pigment does. Meaning, normally if a lipstick is not too pigmented, we build the colour by adding more swipes. However, as we add more swipes, we also end up depositing more product which adds texture to the lips and if the lipstick has a cream/satin texture, the product would end up sliding around on the lips.
However, that does not happen with this lipstick. I assume it is because the texture is so light-weight. If you have built up the colour and you purse your lips – the lines will show. A problem which is easily sorted by gently dabbing at your lips.
Pigmentation: A single swipe gives a soft stained look to the lips. How pretty/flattering this looks would depend on the natural pigmentation of your lips. Because the pigmentation in a single swipe is fairly low. However, the colour can be easily built up – this means about 5-6 swipes at least.
My lip swatches and FOTDs are with built up colours so that you can appreciate the difference between 2 shades. However, I have shared arm swatches where one side is a single swipe of the lipstick and the other side is with multiple swipes. This will enable you to understand how low the pigmentation is and how richly it can be built up.
Lasting Power: With used as a single swipe, I get about 2-2.5 hours of wear. With multiple swipes, and the colour at full intensity, this shade gives me about 5-5.5 hours of wear and leaves a slight stain. It wears off evenly and does not get patchy.
Fragrance: This one seemed to have a more pronounced fragrance and it didn’t seem too pleasant either.
To sum this up for you:
Pros of Bobbi Brown Crushed Lip Color Cabana:
- Easy to wear shade – very flattering on our warm medium skin tone.
- Extremely Lightweight texture.
- Buildable pigmentation
- Very comfortable to wear with no feeling of dryness or clinginess.
- Hydrating formula
- Easy to apply and get clean lines.
- It applies smoothly and evenly with no tug or pull
- No feathering or bleeding despite the balmy texture
- Does not flake
- Classy and yet fun packaging
- Decent wear time – 4-4.5 hours – considering their texture.
- Free from Sulfates and Phthalates
- Product is free from titanium and other ingredients that add weight and give opaque coverage
Cons of Bobbi Brown Crushed Lip Color Cabana:
- The fragrance was kind of weird. But, that may well be a result of the temperature changes the product has gone through in storage units.

Personally, I love this shade and would probably get a lot of use out of it and I look forward to that. The shade and the texture are well matched to give a youthful and fresh look!
