Bobbi Brown Eyeshadow in Mahogany Review

“Beneath the makeup and behind the smile, I am just a girl who wishes for the world.” – Marilyn Monroe

Hi Ladies,

What’s up in beautyland? Judging by the reviews and comments, I think you all are pretty darn rocking!  With this lovely winter season going on, every day is an excuse to don some pretty makeup and just deck up even if for no rhyme or reason. I mean, unlike the summers, winters just make us want to go all out in terms of makeup, even if it’s a shopping expedition or a trip to the movies. The other day, I went to meet some friends for coffee in my plain jeans and jumper and slapped on some bright red lipstick (Russian Red from MAC – one of my all-time favorites), a bit of shimmer on the eyes and mascara and I was sorted.  I am sure you have all been busy shopping for your perfect LBD’s or whatever tickles your fancy for 31st night or like I said anytime you go out and want to just look your stunning best, so I thought, let me share a product that I have found to be quite a catch to obtain a few looks you may want to try out. Whether it’s the classic smokey eye, or blending in with shimmers or just making your brows look absolutely stunning, here’s my two cents on the Bobbi Brown eye shadow in the shade Mahogany (10).

My Experience with Bobbi Brown Eyeshadow in Mahogany:

Although I have the typical black shadow for the obvious smokey eye look, I was in search for something less subtle yet that would still capture the drama, so I opted for this shade which Bobbi Brown describes as a dark ash brown. This is from their matte powder eye shadow range and although at first sight, it looks quite dull, it’s a gorgeous colour that can be played around with. To the touch, it feels really silky and smooth and is generously pigmented. What I adore is that it blends well and you can decide on the density you require depending on how much you use. I never use this on its own as that’s too boring, so I pair this with some shimmery/non-shimmery shades by using this on the outer v of my eyes or as a smudged liner on both the upper and lower lids.  I have also tried this many times by using it on the crease and blend it in while using a lighter and brighter shade on the eyelid. It gives such a sexy smoldering appeal that I’m impressed.

Refer to the eye swatches to see my smokey eye look by blending Mahogany on the upper eyelid crease and then smudging over my Maybelline Colossal eye liner in black on the upper lash line. On the inner corners of my eye, I have used a bit of gold shimmer from my YSL Ombres 5 Lumieres 3 eye palette and blended that in. On the botton lash line, I have used Colossal on the waterline only and then smudged Mahogany on the lower lash line.  I have also used Mahogany to fill my brows.

The powder does not create lines at all which is a huge plus as some MAC shadows do that for me unfortunately and the lasting power is commendable. Mine lasts on my eyes for a good 6-7 hours at the least. To makes things better, this doubles up as a brow filler too and when the store assistant suggested I try it on my brows, I was apprehensive at first, but it works brilliantly to fill in eyebrows even if mine are black. Makes them look au naturel!

5/5

Conclusion:

Well, what can I say girls, I just love it too much and was apprehensive on spending quite a bit on what seemed like a drab shade at first sight, but it’s worth every penny and gives a very sophisticated look which can be worn in the day too.

Au revoir!
