Bobbi Brown Hydrating Gel Cream
By Rasshi Nanda
My mother and I are Bobbi Brown loyalists! It takes me a lot of convincing to try other make up brands. This product was the first time that I tried something from their skin care range. I actually had walked in to purchase a new tinted moisturiser and came out with many other things, isn’t that the story of all our lives? So eventually I did purchase this product as well, I got carried away and was thoroughly convinced by the Sales Assistant at Bobbi Brown.

My experience with Bobbi Brown Hydrating Gel Cream
As I mentioned above, whilst purchasing a tinted moisturiser for myself, I was suggested by the SA to try this gel based cream as a moisturiser/primer before I applied foundation (another purchase on this makeup shopping escapade). I have really sensitive skin, that is prone to breakout and I am highly cautious with all products I purchase and use, therefore again, I was really skeptical about this gel cream.
But I was taken aback when I saw that the consistency of this product was highly similar to the Clarins HydraQuench cooling gel I was using, which eventually got discontinued. And the SA had assured me that the cream would not break me out since it was of a gel consistency, my makeup would stay on for a longer time and my face would feel completely hydrated.
So the product comes in a small glass pot, which is actually really cute, but due to my hygiene obsession, I would rather it come in a pump bottle, cause it would avoid any hands/nails touching the whole jar. It is a white colour gel based cream and it smells really fresh and I particularly enjoy how its light and not overpowering. It has a really soft, gel like texture, glides onto the skin extremely smoothly and is easily absorbed by it too.
I can absolutely confirm that it hydrated my skin and my face felt so fresh, supple and rejuvenated upon application. It did not feel heavy or greasy on my face, nor did it result to any sort of irritation, which my skin always does when it isn’t fond of a certain product. This for me was a huge sigh of relief. It was so moisturising and hydrating that I am able to eliminate my moisturiser completely whenever I use it. The cream however does not come with a SPF within its formula already, so that is a major drawback of the product in my opinion and I have to use a layer of SPF after I apply this onto my face. But the best bit about this gel cream is that it can be used for so many different things. Apart from being a hydrating moisturiser, it can also be used as a primer and it can be mixed with liquid foundation to achieve a fresh dewy look on the face. I am going to admit I am not a foundation lover, because I hate how my face feels when I apply it, it feels extremely dry and flaky despite having oily skin. But I literally love how the product feels on my face, when I use it underneath my foundation, it makes my skin feel extremely hydrated and at the same time it looks super refreshed.
Overall I really liked this product, and thought it did live up to its claim of hydrating and moisturising my face and it did not cause me to breakout at all!
Pros of Bobbi Brown Hydrating Gel Cream

• Did not break me out.
• Does not make my face greasy or oily.
• Makes my skin look and feel totally refreshed.
• Smells lovely.
• Glides onto skin very smoothly.
Cons of Bobbi Brown Hydrating Gel Cream
• Comes in a jar and not a pump.
• Quiet expensive.
• Contains Dimethicone.
Would I recommend Bobbi Brown Hydrating Gel Cream product?
Yes I most definitely would. It can be used by both oily/combination skin beauties as well as dry skin beauties! It will leave you feeling really refreshed.
Would I purchase Bobbi Brown Hydrating Gel Cream again?
I don’t wear foundation on my face anymore and I still have not finished this pot completely, so it might be a miss for me. Since I find the Clarins lotion I use, enough for my skin needs as of now (and it also contains SPF 15).
