I have a couple more Bobbi Brown reviews planned for you today. So, we have discussed some plums and some rosy shades and some bright pinks. Time to talk about some reds from this range. So, today’s review is on the shade ‘Imperial Red’.

My Experience with Bobbi Brown Luxe Lip Color Imperial Red:
Packaging:
Bobbi Brown moved from her classic black packaging to the one colour which has always indicated luxe – gold! So, the case for the Luxe Lip Color range happens to be a golden one with Bobbi Brown written on the side and her lovely logo etched on top. The bullet itself is free from any branding.
The lipstick has the regular twist-up mechanism and lacks the magnetic closure. However, the cap fits in snugly, so there are very little chances of it coming undone in a bag. As with all things Bobbi Brown, the lipstick comes packaged in a black box, which has the ingredients mentioned on it.
Shade:
The shade, Imperial Red, is a bright, medium, ever so slightly pink toned red with a glossy sheen. It is a happy red shade – the kind that brightens up your face instantly and is perfect for the Holiday season…not that you can’t wear it right now.
Texture:
The lipstick feels extremely lightweight, though not weightless. It glides on with buttery smoothness. You don’t need to layer it up, but if you do, it still won’t get cakey or heavy. The beauty of the product also lies in the fact that the smoothness with which it glides, stays on.
The satin smoothness does not get drying over time. It keeps the lips hydrated, as promised by Bobbi Brown. At the end of the day, your lips feel better off having worn the lipstick. Having said that, what works for me is that despite the softness it provides, the texture doesn’t migrate or move around too much on the lips.
It adheres well to the lips once applied. Yes, it does transfer to other surfaces it touches – because of the satin finish – but you do not feel the product slipping around on the lips causing bunching up of colour or sinking into fine lines. None of that! The smoothness it provides to the lips makes them appear plumped and the fine lines on my lips seem less evident with this one.
Pigmentation:
Pigmentation is quite good but the shade has a hint of translucency – just like the shade Plum Brandy. I feel that it actually makes the shade look more wearable and youthful somehow. A single layer gives a full wash of colour.
Lasting Power:
The lipstick gives you about 5.5-6 hours of wear. The shade leaves a vivid stain which gives you another couple of hours of wear time. And because of the strong stain, the lipstick does not seem to look like it’s wearing off. As the lipstick starts to wear off, it does so evenly, without getting or looking patchy.
Fragrance:
There is a very faint fragrance when I put my nose to it!

I don’t know what it is about this shade, it made me feel instantly happy the very first time I put it on. I wore red after a really long time. The shade, the texture and how it feels on the lips and how it makes your lips look plumper and more youthful – it does deliver on the “luxe” promise.
