Today I am here to share my views about Bobbi Brown SPF 50 Protective Face Base. It is packed with caffeine and algae extracts which claim to protect the skin and give it a healthy glow. Read on to know if it suits my combination and sensitive skin.

My Experience with Bobbi Brown SPF 50 Protective Face Base:
I have tried Bobbi Brown Vitamin Enriched Face Base and was very pleased with the results. The flawless finish I get from this product is totally adorable. However, as winter approaches, my skin tends to dry easily. Hence, it needs something more moisturising.
As the weather changes for good, I tend to spend more time outdoors in the sun, so a higher SPF 50 product helps protect the skin from UVA/UVB rays for a longer time. Since this face base is packed with caffeine and I have sensitive skin, I was afraid it might cause some breakouts or irritation. Hence, I was very hesitant but finally made up my mind and picked it up.
The tube packaging is hygienic, unlike jar packaging, and this convinced me to buy this face base. In case it does not suit me I can pass it on to a close friend or a family member. So, let’s start with my review to know if I am planning to keep this face base or pass it on. It is a white coloured lotion textured face base, which comes packaged in a tube.
The texture is smooth and silky; it is neither oily nor greasy. It applies smoothly and evenly. I take a small amount in my palm and apply it all over my face using my fingers. It does not give any white cast, but needs to be spread evenly. It makes my skin one tone fairer and gives a smooth and even finish. It also adds a mild glow to my facial skin.
I have to take care regarding which moisturiser to use under this face base and also which makeup, foundation or compact to wear above this face base. Reason? It does not set well with all moisturisers and foundations. I have noticed this issue with quite a few products that have a high SPF content.
This face base helps hold the makeup for long hours and keeps the skin fresh looking throughout the day. It is neither oily nor sticky. It’s a lightweight, water-based lotion that does not dry or irritate my sensitive skin; it does not cause any breakouts either. I do not use it on a daily basis. I have reserved it for days when I am planning to spend more time in the sun.
I feel this product is suitable for all skin types. However, if your skin is hypersensitive, I would advise you refrain from using this face base. This is my personal opinion, though. I have always enjoyed using Bobbi Brown products and this face base also did not disappoint me. In fact, I am glad I picked this product up. And yes, I am keeping the tube for myself. 😜
