The Body Shop Cocoa Butter Creamy Body Wash Review

I bought this Body Shop Cocoa Butter Creamy Body Wash to tackle North Indian drying winters. I used it then and I got another bottle this year as a gift, from my friend! You thought Body Shop gifted me?! I wish!

The Body Shop Claims:

Best if you want to: Indulge your skin and senses in a moisture-rich, ultra-creamy body wash that creates a decadent chocolate-scented lather. Best for very dry skin.

How It Works:
A cleansing ingredient made from Community Trade cocoa butter acts as a detergent that creates foaming, cleansing bubbles.  Community Trade organic soy oil is very rich in essential fatty acids that help to restore skin’s natural moisture barrier, so skin is softer and smoother.

Key Ingredients:

Glycerin – Is an effective moisturizer which helps improve softness and maximize hydration.
Organic soya oil – Has moisturizing and healing properties that make it ideal for intensive skin care treatments. It’s also a source of income for organic farmers in Brazil.
Sunflower Seed Oil – Moisturizes and helps to soften the skin.
Ingredients:
Water, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, PEG-5 Cocamide, Sodium Laureth Sulfate, Coco-Glucoside, Glycine Soja (Soybean) Oil, Acrylates/C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer, Sodium Cocoa Butter Amphoacetate, Acrylates/Steareth-20 Methacrylate Copolymer, Phenoxyethanol, Sodium Benzoate, Sodium Hydroxide, Glycerin, Fragrance, Citronellol, Disodium EDTA, Linalool, Tocopherol, Geraniol, Amyl Cinnamal, Hydroxycitronellal, Benzyl Salicylate, Limonene, Alpha-Isomethyl Ionone, Benzyl Benzoate, Isoeugenol, Cinnamyl Alcohol, Farnesol, Citral, Eugenol, Benzyl Alcohol, Benzyl Cinnamate, Yellow 6, Yellow 5.

How to Use:

Squeeze onto the palms of your hands or The Body Shop Bath Lily and massage over your body.

Price:

Rs. 375 for 250 ml.

My Take on The Body Shop Cocoa Butter Creamy Body Wash:

I think the product is upto the claims. It is indeed a boon for very dry skin and leaves it hydrated after the wash. It is a must buy for those who have extra dry skin and who need a good moisturizing body wash for shower. The scent is good and remains on for sometime even after the bath. The product may not be suitable for everyday use in normal weather and should be a no-no in summers. It makes you feel soft and supple so that goes well in winters. Also, its consistency is not too thick, so one might have to squeeze a bit more for a proper wash and that makes the bottle last less than a month. So, the price can be a bit unaffordable to many.

Body Wash

Pros of The Body Shop Cocoa Butter Creamy Body Wash:

  • It really moisturizes your body.
  • Smells good, like The Body Shop claims the scent is chocolate laden and the fragrance actually lingers on for quite sometime.
  • Leaves the skin feeling good, soft and smooth.

Cons of The Body Shop Cocoa Butter Creamy Body Wash:

  • Does not form much lather, so women like me who want to indulge in creamy lather may feel disappointed.
  • Since it leaves the skin soft and creamy, one might feel it has not properly cleaned the skin.

Overall Experience:

I love Body Shop and I love this product as well. Just that it is a bit too moisturizing if you do not have overly dry skin and you are not in extremely cold weather. I currently live in Andamans and here weather is moderate. So, I do not use it often, but yes, I certainly use it on Sundays when my hubby is at home and I want to smell soft in the mornings ;). I like the way its chocolaty, sweet smell remains on me for a while.  Overall, a very great product from Body Shop and you must get one bottle if you have difficulty in keeping yourself nourished in winters.

Rating:

4/5.

Will I Buy it Again:

Yes, if I am in North India or in Europe in winters, I will definitely take it with me, but otherwise may be not.

  1. I was ALMOST sold until I read the no-lather bit. :nababana: It’d have been a perfect winter bodywash if only it foamed just a little bit. :struggle: Damn. Oh well, I may still give it a try because somehow I can never resist a thing which claims Cocoa Butter as an ingredient. :inlove: :jiggy1:

  2. :woot: :woot: :woot: :woot: Was my expression until I read that it doesn’t lather much. Now I’m just :(( :((
his would have been THE body wash for me if it lathered. :teddy:
