The Body Shop Coconut Shower Cream Review, Swatch

Hello Friends,

Today I am going to review The Body Shop Coconut Shower Cream. As I have mentioned before this was a part of the gift set that my hubby gifted me on my birthday. It was a gift of five 60 ml miniature size bottles from TBS, each with its own purpose. Actually this is my first shower cream, I have used bath gels, body washes and shower gels before but shower cream for the first time. I had this pre-conceived notion that it will act like a cream and will not give that squeaky clean feeling after a bath or shower, hence wasn’t sure about using it but didn’t want to hurt his feelings by giving away either so decided to give it a try.

The Body Shop Coconut Shower Cream

As we all know the benefits of coconuts. Whether in the form of oils, water or flesh, they are beneficial in every form, and nourish our skin both inside and outside from head to toe. But the very thing that inspired me to use it was its scent. It has a very light coconut scent and reminded me of those delicious chewy coconut toffees by Nutrene. I was very fond of them during my childhood and still am.

The company website says: This soap-free shower cream contains organic virgin coconut oil and has a deliciously tropical scent.
• Lather-rich
• Tropical coconut scent

The Body Shop Coconut Shower Cream

The Body Shop Coconut Shower Cream is meant for creamy soap free cleansing enriched with Community Trade virgin coconut oil. For those with normal to dry skin. It comes in a transparent bottle with a flip open cap that can also be opened completely to get the contents out towards the end. The cream is beige in color and thicker in consistency than body washes so you can simply forget about the dripping part as soon as you open the lid. One can simply use a bath foam or hands to form lather but a foam would certainly function better. It does not lather profoundly like a gel wash does but is adequate enough for a complete bath.

It is soap-free as it states and gets washed off easily leaving a mild coconut fragrance behind that lingers on your skin for about half an hour after which it eventually fades away, when no other moisturizer is applied. I have normal – dry skin and didn’t feel the need of a moisturizer right away. Also I could feel a healthy glow to my skin.

Swatch

To sum up positively:
• Soap free
• Contains the goodness of coconut
• Tropical Coconut scent.
• Thick consistency avoiding spillage and excess overflow
• Great for those with Normal/Dry skin
• Keeps the skin moisturized.
• Very light and creamy texture.

Negative aspects of TBS Coconut Shower Cream
• Doesn’t lather like gel washes do, so a little more of the product is required.

Overall verdict: It’s a nice product in its own way for those with normal/ dry skin and also acts as a great moisturiser but wouldn’t suggest to those with oily skin or to be used in humid climates. I personally believe it would work great during winters and have taken a liking for shower creams so I am definitely going to repurchase.

  1. I was about to pick this when I last visited TBS but instead got a gel from the Earth Lovers range fearing that this might be too coconutty. Now that I know it doesn’t have an overpowering smell, I might get it! Shower creams are the way to go in winters.
