I have always wanted to try a cushion foundation, for a long time now, but unfortunately, drugstore brands do not launch all the shades here in Australia as they do in the US and so it was difficult to get a shade match for me. I found out that The Body Shop have launched their fresh nude cushion foundation recently. I have already reviewed the “Fresh Nude Foundation” from TBS. I just loved the formula and went to check out the cushion foundation as well. Fortunately, I got a shade that matched me perfectly and here I am to share my thoughts on this product.

My Experience with The Body Shop Fresh Nude Cushion Foundation:
This foundation comes in a compact cushion box. The box is white and black in color and the brand name is engraved on the top of the lid. The shade details are present at the bottom of the compact. There is also a black puff which acts as an applicator for dabbing the product onto the skin. There is a second black lid inside the compact which holds the puff and also acts as a lid for the actual cushion. There is also a mirror present in the compact. One thing which is different in this cushion compact than the other ones that are available in the market – there is a mesh0like layer on top of the actual product cushion. This makes it very hygienic and also controls the amount of product that we take on the puff applicator. The sponge applicator is quite nice, it is soft and dense and helps to blend the makeup properly into the skin. It works well and is quite time saving. Overall, it is quite a classy and travel-friendly product.
First, I thought that this cushion foundation just like the “Fresh Nude Foundation,” but I was quite disappointed to find that there was only 5 shades available. I chose the darkest shade called as “Almyros Almond 5” which matched my complexion perfectly. I am a NC 45 in MAC, so for more duskier beauties, there are no shades available, which is a big drawback, but compared to Korean brands where there are only shades for fair ski tones, this range is better.
The ultimate goal of applying a foundation is to get flawless skin that feels natural, without looking cakey or made up, and this foundation does that – it gives the most natural, dewy-like finish. Though they claim semi-matte finish, I think this one gives dewy finish. It has a slightly runny, thin texture, but not like liquid foundation. I quite like how it feels on my skin – it is very easy to blend and sinks into the skin almost instantly and flawlessly.
The coverage is light to buildable, one layer gives a light coverage. Applying a second layer increases it to medium coverage but still a concealer is necessary to cover the flaws. Since this foundation is on the dewy side I feel it needs to be set using a powder.
The formula of this foundation is infused with English Rose Water and 100% organic Aloe Vera, to hydrate and soothe the skin. It is a lightweight formula which feels very hydrating and comfortable without clogging the pores. The hydrating and soothing formula will also ensure your skin stays looking fresh and youthful throughout the day.
This product lasts for almost 4 to 6 hours ,but it is not long wearing since it is a natural finish foundation. This will be the best foundation for dry and normal skin types as it is infused with aloe vera and English rose which does wonders to the skin by keeping it hydrated and luminous. This will also work great for combination skin along with a setting powder, but I am not sure how it will fare on oily skin types.
So overall, I love this product, it works like bb cushion and feels like second skin. It doesn’t make you cakey and gives the most luminous ,lightweight and natural finish to the skin and it will be perfect base for summers.
