Today, I am reviewing a hand cream from The Body Shop and it is the Hemp Hand Protector. I always stayed away from this line because the packaging looked very medicinal and boring and I went for other hand creams. The hand creams from L’Occitane are good (Limited Edition), but my hands are a big sucker for good moisture. I thought let me try my hands on this hand cream as well. I finally bought it a couple of months ago. Read on to see if I really like it or not.
Soften and protect hands, even after washing. Our best-selling Hemp Hand Protector is dermatologically tested for very dry skin and contains Community Trade hemp seed oil. It is best for dry to extremely dry skin.
Allantoin, Organic beeswax, Glycerin, Hemp Seed Oil, Pethenol.
Massage a small amount into hands.
My Experience with The Body Shop Hemp Hand Protector:
This hand cream is from the Hemp line from The Body Shop. I love to try new hand creams as I have not found my HG product. The packaging has been changed, the old tube was a little medicinal looking and now the green color on the tube is more vibrant. Finally, I bought this and it is amazing and I totally adore it. I apply this hand cream at night before bed. I apply it generously and massage well so that it sinks in properly.
When I wake up in the morning, my hands are so soft and I just like the feel. It takes 2-3 minutes to sink in, so I keep massaging it at night. The smell could be a little overpowering for some. It is minty, but I like it a lot. It is a very thick cream with a hint of green to it. I do not like the metal tube packaging as it becomes ugly after 5-6 uses. The tube cracks and is very difficult to take out the product. Now, people with oily skin can skip this as it can get heavy for them. They can try this in winters.
The Key Ingredients are really interesting:
- Allantoin: It is a natural soothing, anti-irritant, and skin protectant.
- Glycerin: Is an effective moisturizer which helps improve softness and maximize hydration.
- Hemp Seed Oil: Has an unusually high concentration of essential fatty acids that help to repair the skin’s moisture barrier thus helping to restore moisture, smoothness and suppleness.
- Pathenol: It reduces the breakage of nails and reduces flaking.
- Organic Beeswax: It helps to moisturize and it acts as a barrier to seal the moisture.
When I searched for hemp seed oil, I got to know that it is an excellent edible oil that is very good if consumed every day. It is very beneficial for hair as well. Hemp seed oil is also a natural sunblock, which helps to avoid diseases related to over-exposure to the sun’s more harmful rays.
All this goodness of hemp seed oil tempts me to buy the other products from the same line and those products have also been reviewed here on IMBB 🙂
Pros of The Body Shop Hemp Hand Protector:
- Very moisturizing.
- Softens dry cuticles.
- Long-lasting effect.
- Does not leave a greasy residue.
Cons of The Body Shop Hemp Hand Protector:
- Except the metal tube packaging, I can’t find any other cons in this product.
Would I Repurchase The Body Shop Hemp Hand Protector?
Overall, it is a HG product for my dry and patchy hands as even in summers, I need a very thick hand cream, so this does its job to the perfection. I would definitely recommend it to all with dry and patchy hands.
