My Take on The Body Shop Hemp Moisturising Wash:

I have been a TBS shower gel loyalist for years now, have tried most of the range and rarely I buy anything other than them. I saw this body wash in the store one day and since it was onset of winter, I bought this body wash too.  My skin gets very dry in winters, so I was looking for moisturizing shower gels and this one fitted the bill.

I had bought this shower gel for my use, but the hubby ended up using it and that’s because I couldn’t get pass the weird smell! In the store, when I had smelled the gel, I was not too happy with the smell, but since I wanted something for winter, I bought it anyway. But boy! It smells stronger in the bathroom than it does in the bottle. It was just too strong a medicine-y smell for my liking and especially after using body washes that smelt of apricot, lemon and watermelon!

But it is a fabulous shower gel for extremely dry skin or people with problematic skin. My husband gets skin infection due to extreme dry skin during winters and I happily passed on this bottle to him. He absolutely loved it. No itchy skin for him this winter. My husband did use a moisturizer after using the gel because he has really dry skin, but I felt no need to use a moisturizer after using this gel. Many moisturizing gels leave an oily/greasy film on your skin, not this one.

The gel is neutral in colour as it has no colorants. The texture of the gel is neither runny nor too thick – just the right consistency. It doesn’t lather much and you need a little more that your usual amount. If you are a fan of lathering shower gels, you might not like this, but it really does work for dry, itchy, problematic skin. Also if it helps, the fragrance doesn’t linger for too long, but while it’s there, it’s just too strong for my liking.

Pros of The Body Shop Hemp Moisturising Wash:

  • Excellent gel for very dry skin.
  • No SLS/SLES.
  • No colorants.
  • Moisturizes the skin well.

Cons of The Body Shop Hemp Moisturising Wash:

  • Expensive for a body wash.
  • Weird smell – either you love it or can’t stand it.
