The Body Shop Hi-Shine Lip Treatment in Coral Sparkle

The Body Shop Limited Edition Hi-Shine Lip Treatment in Coral Sparkle

Hi! I’m back with another lip gloss review. When it comes to TBS, I have always only stuck to their bath and body range, but never tried anything from their makeup line. I saw this Christmas Limited Edition lip gloss on their website and knew I want to buy it because a) I love shimmery glosses b) it’s TBS and c) a girl can never have too many lip glosses/lipsticks! 😀 This particular shade is called Coral Sparkle.

The packaging is simple enough – a plastic transparent tube with cap. The gloss is a pretty colour and has those reflective shimmer particles.

Quantity: 6 ml (0.2 US FL OZ)
Price: Rs. 415, if I remember clearly, though I got it during the Christmas sale.

What I liked about this lip gloss is that it didn’t feel as sticky as most other glosses. It’s smooth and goes on easily, and also has a watermelon scent which I like, though it could be a bit strong for some. The shimmer particles are not grainy, and are subtle when you apply it unlike some glosses where it stands out too much.

Stories about some lip glosses being made with animal fat always grossed me out :/ so I’m kind of glad I got this, since (hopefully) I can rest assured about the ingredients! I swipe it directly from the tube, but I guess you could squeeze out a little of it on a lip brush too. I find that it looks even more amazing if you pair it with a subtly coloured lip balm like Maybelline Bloom, it enhances the colour and adds shimmer and shine!

Here’s a look at the back – I was frankly disappointed that the ingredients aren’t mentioned 🙁 –

I wished there had been a cuter packaging thought this little tube is very cute indeed, but you know, it’s the Body Shop! One expects more 😛 Also, I wish there had been a bit more of a payoff in terms of colour. It’s a good gloss for layering though. Here’s a swatch –

I kinda shy away from lip swatches 😛 but since the fingertip is supposed to be the closest shade to how your lips are, this is my swatch!

Pros:

  •  Somewhat affordable
  •  Glides on smoothly
  •  Glitter particles are not gritty
  •  Is great for layering
  •  Yummy fragrance

Cons:

  •  Does not have much colour on its own
  •  Available only during Christmas/winter time
  •  The smell may not be alluring for some

All in all I think it was a good buy, though I did expect more colour. It’s great for when you’re traveling and need a quick dab of gloss on the go.

Would I repurchase: Now that the Lily Cole version is available I might pick that up, but not this again since I’ll have to wait so much.

  1. The lily cole one is awesome! i have it in go play which is a sheer bright pink color that will really give a gorgeous gloss to the lips..works well even in livening up pigmented lips..btw im also using lily cole pearl radiance primer since two days and m absolutely loving the glowy lit from within look it gives..must try! 🙂

      1. yup! 🙂 m super oily so it isn’t much of a “primer” but doesn’t add to the oiliness or break out thankfully! *touch wood*..anything for that hydrated glow! 😀
