The Body Shop Japanese Cherry Blossom Bath and Shower Gel Review

Hi Beauties,

Today, I will be reviewing a product from The Body Shop and it is the “Japanese Cherry Blossom Bath and Shower Gel.” I used this product the whole time I was in India for holidays.  I was in Kerala – “God’s Own Country” and it was my first time there. I believe that if you stick to the same fragrance range when on holiday; whenever you sniff that fragrance again, you will remember the holiday.

I used this with the TBS Japanese Cherry Blossom Mist.  This is not a new line from TBS.  It has been around for a while, but I only tried it out recently (after finishing off the stock I already had :P) What attracted me to this one when compared to the “fruits” range and the others available was the delicate label and the light pink colour. I love all things girly and this I found to be too cute (especially because labeling for most of the other Body Shop products is quite straightforward) and I am sick of the packaging for the “fruits” range – strawberry, mango, pink grapefruit, etc.)  I look forward to seeing more colourful and pretty packaging from The Body Shop in the future.  For me, the product should be good without a doubt, but should be attractive as well 😛

Since I was going to take this on a holiday, I bought the travel-size bottle and was going to use it with a loofah to make it last long.

My Experience with The Body Shop Japanese Cherry Blossom Bath and Shower Gel:

Firstly, I like the packaging compared to other Body Shop shower gels.  It comes in a sturdy bottle and the lid is black in colour and is slimmer and taller than the old bottles.  The gel as well as the packaging is of light pink colour and the art work looks cute resembling the Japanese Cherry Blossom -Sakura.  The product is a gel and is less thicker than other TBS shower gels which is a plus point from me.  It lathers well but its even better when used with a loofah.

TBS Shower Gel

Okay, let me come to the fragrance. With the Japanese Cherry Blossom, its either you like it or hate it.  Since it was in the shower gel form, I really liked the fragrance as it was subtle and feminine; however, the body mist and EDT are heavier and smell a bit weird if you spray too much.  The light fragrance reminds me of spring and since it is actually spring time in Australia, what better way to celebrate it than with a Japanesese cherry blossom shower gel 🙂

Pros of The Body Shop Japanese Cherry Blossom Bath and Shower Gel:

  • Cute, delicate and feminine packaging.
  • The shower gel is quite light and lathers well.
  • Contains community trade honey from Ethiopia.
  • The fragrance is subtle yet more luxurious compared to most other lines from The Body Shop.

Cons of The Body Shop Japanese Cherry Blossom Bath and Shower Gel:

  • Fragrance does not last long at all.
  • When I used this in India, it did not give me the squeaky clean feeling. I was in the southern part where it was hot and humid; however, for Australian climate, it is perfectly fine.

IMBB Rating:

3.75/5

Will I Repurchase The Body Shop Japanese Cherry Blossom Bath and Shower Gel?

Not immediately since I want to try something new and different from The Body Shop.  The “Scents of the World” collection was out recently and I’m also looking forward to the 2012 Christmas edition.

Important Note:

TBS Australia never has sales; however, in India and Malaysia, I saw many items on sales. When you purchase skin care/body care items on sale, please be aware of how long it might have been in the store/shelves. I saw some products which were discontinued a long time ago on sale.  However sometimes seasonal items (Christmas/Valentine’s day editions) also go on sale immediately after the season and that’s okay.  Otherwise, please do not purchase something because it is very cheap and discounted by 50%.In Australia, L’Occitane and Crabtree have sales twice a year and I have seen items nearing the expiry date discounted heavily – sometimes there is only one month more for the expiry date. I would rather save money and buy fresh items or just stick to affordable brands, just be careful my friends 🙂

    1. Yes , Neha ,… I always used to always hoard at sales ,…but unlike clothes and accessories sale skincare wont necessarily be good quality …. I know that preservatives are included but that doesnt mean we can use it ages after it hit the stores….im careful now ,….but seasonal editions are ok I guess
