Hey gorgeous gals,
I am currently on a vacation with my kids – although saying “I’m on vacation” would be bit of a stretch. Because with kids, it’s not vacation, more like a relocation! 😉 Anyway! I thought that since I am on vacay, I may have some time to actually use a body butter/body cream. So, I picked this up from the Body Shop. The thought of Cherry Blossom laden tries always excites me. One of the items on my bucket list is to visit Georg in the correct season to be able to enjoy the views of Cherry Blossom trees. In the interim, I’m trying to make do with this tub of Body Cream! Yeah! Such is life!
Treat your skin to our addictively sweet, silky-soft body cream. Infused with the extract of hand-harvested, cold-pressed Japanese cherry blossoms and juicy notes of strawberries, pink peony and amber, this rich moisturiser leaves skin seriously hydrated and irresistibly fresh and fruity. My Experience with The Body Shop Japanese Cherry Blossom Strawberry Kiss Body Cream:
Packaging: It’s is a typical TBS tub with a screw on cap – no outer box, no seal, no spatula, etc. The tub contains 200ml product. I have had no issues with product leakage but I do not think I would want to travel with this.
Fragrance: The moment you open the tub, the room just fills with the floral notes; so much so that I had my boys coming up to me from the other side of the room, asking what I was doing. The fragrance has the floral notes from Cherry Blossom mixed with a hint of tangy sourness of strawberries. It is quite lovely, but may not be for everyone. I suggest you try the variant in store before buying it. The fragrance does transfer to the skin and stays put for a fairly long time. It isn’t that the fragrance would keep wafting to you. No really, but if your (or someone else’s) nose is significantly close to your skin – they would be able to smell it distinctly.
Texture: I picked this online. I kind of thought this was a body butter but it’s actually a body cream. I realized this only once I was applying it and felt the texture to be heavier than the regular body butters from TBS. That is what made me look at the packaging again and realize this is a body cream.
The body cream is a pale pink shade. As I mentioned earlier, the texture is creamy and thicker than that of body butters from the TBS line. The thicker texture corresponds to the fact that it takes a bit of massaging for the product to sink into the skin. Please note – both these points are in comparison to a body butter, which being lighter in texture, sinks into the skin more easily.
It does not leave any residue on the skin – just a fragrant feel and soft, supple, nourished skin. The skin gets its natural sheen back. I do not feel the need to re-apply post 10-12 hours. I re-apply only next day – post a bath. Again, as has been mentioned by the brand – the product will show better results if applied right after a bath/shower – to lock in the moisture of the skin.
Pros of The Body Shop Japanese Cherry Blossom Strawberry Kiss Body Cream:
- A unique floral and tangy fragrance.
- The fragrance transfers well to the skin.
- Thick consistency and yet it glides smoothly on the skin and absorbs well.
- Does not leave any residue behind.
- Leaves the skin feeling soft, supple, nourished.
- Gives a healthy sheen to my skin.
- Once applied; no re-application is needed.
- While we are in summers right now, I feel this will work well for me even in the winters.
- Cruelty free.
Cons of The Body Shop Japanese Cherry Blossom Strawberry Kiss Body Cream:
- The fragrance is fairly strong and may not be everyone’s cup of tea.
I quite liked it. I feel the thicker texture gives an added something-extra to my dehydrated skin which the usual body butters aren’t able to do. Though I love the fragrance – it can get too much for me sometimes – especially when I am running a migraine. So, I will suggest one to try the fragrance in store before you pick this body cream.
