My Experience with The Body Shop Matte Clay Full Coverage Concealer:
This concealer comes in a mini black pot with a normal clear flip flop cap. It’s a tiny packaging that contains only 1.5 gm of product. I never expected such a small pot and also haven’t noticed the quantity before placing my order, so it was shocking for me. Actually, according to its quantity, it’s so expensive and I am not sure how long it will last too. Since it is a jar container, I need to dip my fingers into it, which I feel is a little unhygienic and thus, I always prefer wand concealer which is easy to apply as well. But, I can also easily apply it with a brush to avoid dipping my finger into the jar.
Now, they offer 8 shades and this range has two dark shades for dusky beauties. I picked the shade ‘042 Savannah Pecan’ which would suit medium tan skin tones, but the shade has a pink tone that clashes with my warm undertone. Due to this, it looks a bit ashy on my under-eye area. Actually, the shade looks quite different than what’s shown in the picture on their website. Hence, I prefer to use it on the top of color-correcting concealers, like peach, orange, and then it works so well to provide a balanced look. Like, on orange concealer, it helps to hide that warm orange tone and gives me that perfect finish.
This concealer is richly pigmented and beautifully covers my dark circles and makes my eye area look even toned. It also can hide uneven skin tone, pigmentation, spots, redness, and blemishes. I really like its coverage, which is almost full coverage, but it’s not a brightening concealer, so I need to follow it with a brightener. Though the shade individually looks a bit dull and ashy when worn on its own, but if you pick the right shade, it will give you best results.
As it is a cream concealer, it has a nice, smooth, soft, creamy texture that blends effortlessly on the skin and provides a smooth and even finish. It doesn’t feel patchy and I can easily layer it up. It never feels heavy on the skin too. I really like its formula, which takes only a few minutes to set and it looks very smooth. I also need less amount of product, only a few dabs can hide my dark spots. Also, the formula sets into a perfect soft, matte texture, but as I have oily skin, I always prefer to use a compact over this concealer to avoid any creasing. Only, if you have extremely dry eye area, you might need a good moisturizer underneath. Otherwise, it keeps my skin soft and smooth. The formula never clogs my pores and lets my skin breath, keeps it fresh too.
This concealer works best to provide coverage and conceal my imperfections on the face. Most of the day, I skip my foundation and only prefer to cover my imperfections with a concealer. For this, it works pretty well and looks very natural on skin too. It doesn’t crease or settle into fine lines much.
Also, it stays long around 7-8 hours on my oily skin, but I haven’t kept that long. After a few hours, this concealer looks faded and also slips from my T-zone area. It does not make my skin only. As a matte concealer, it performs well and doesn’t look cakey either. It suits to my sensitive skin and has never broken me out.
Overall, this concealer works nicely and is a good option for oily to normal skin. I really like this concealer when I need full coverage makeup and it goes flawlessly on my skin too. It definitely feels like a high-end product. I am seriously not happy with the quantity and the shade that I picked.
