Hope you are all doing great. Today I l be reviewing my mom’s and my favourite scent. I bought the TBS Midnight Bakula gift set for my mother. It had a body lotion, body wash and this EDT. This was a limited edition range I guess but you can still find it online. Just in case you guys are wondering what does chypre mean, here is what Wikipedia says:
Chypre, pronounced: [ʃipʁ] or [ʃipχ], is the name of a family (or concept) of perfumes that are characterised by an accord composed of citrus top-notes, a middle centered on cistus labdanum, and a mossy-animalic base-note derived from oak moss and musk. Chypre perfumes fall into numerous classes according to their modifier notes, which include but are not limited to leather, florals, fruits, and amber.
Now coming to the fragrance. When I heard its name “Midnight Bakula” I was really intrigued. I mean it has a very Indian touch to it. And I remember my first sniff of this perfume made me feel like I was in a serene temple surrounded with lush greenery and flowers all around. It is a very mysterious scent which really surprised me with its notes. It is quite different from all the perfumes I have and I don’t think TBS has launched such a fragrance before. This one is not floral or fruity exactly it is more of an exotic seductive fragrance. It is like when fresh roses wilt on moist earthy ground and fill the air. This has a lot of patchouli when you initially spray it but once it dries down it becomes more watery and tropical-ish. It has nectarine but it does not make it smell like an incense stick. You can say it is spicy at first but it settles down to a very nice earthy-floral yet aquatic scent. It is hard to describe it as it so so unique.
The packaging is a very simple yet elegant transparent glass bottle with a small non-fussy cap. I love the font on the bottle. It looks so ancient types. What I Love about this perfume is its staying power. I can spray it and go on for an entire day. Sometimes I can even smell even after a shower. Excellent staying power it has. The sillage of the perfume is great as well. I bought this almost six months back and it is still more than half (and me and my mom both use it). This is more of a night fragrance but I have worn it in the day too and it is apt for both summers and winters. It is not very suitable for teens though it’s a more of twenties and above scent.
The only problem can be if you over spray it, it might become overpowering because of the opening. So be careful with the amount as a little goes a long way.
Pros of The Body Shop Midnight Bakula Perfume:
• Very unique scent.
• Awesome staying power.
• Great sillage.
• Great name.
Cons of The Body Shop Midnight Bakula Perfume:
• Might be strong for some.
Do try it because of its uniqueness and staying power!!
