My Experience with The Body Shop Oil-Free Balancing Foundation SPF 15:

I got mine in shade 02. It is a liquid foundation and the best part about liquid foundations is that they apply on your face smoothly and evenly. I apply with clean fingers as it goes on smoothly. I have also tried foundation brush and a sponge, but they leave brush marks. It does not take much time to blend in with fingers because the consistency is thick. I apply two pumps to my face and neck and it gives me medium coverage minus the breakouts with a good protection of SPF 15.

I follow it up with my Revlon Colorstay Compact Powder and this combination gives a nice glow to my face and stays same for at least 5-6 hours with a few touch-ups. It is perfect for summer/spring time when the weather is hot and humid.

Lately, this has become my favorite foundation and a staple product in my makeup stash.  It has SPF in it, I hate to apply a separate SPF.  It blends easily! I love the pump packaging.  The foundation comes in a transparent bottle that gives me an idea of how much is left after each use. I have found the perfect shade in this foundation. It has a wide range of shades, around 8 shades in India, so it becomes easy to find a closest shade to your skin. Of course, I had no breakouts.

However, I would like to add that if you do not use a good moisturizer under this foundation, it may give you dry patches as it is oil free. So, use a good moisturizer underneath and let it sink into the skin and then apply this foundation. It only covers redness and small spots, does not cover acne scars and other dark spots.  I would not recommend this product for very dry skin type.

Pros of The Body Shop Oil-Free Balancing Foundation SPF 15:

  • Great coverage for everyday use.
  • A variety of shades available.
  • Nice packaging.
  • Oil free, does not clog pores.
  • Easy to blend.
  • Comes with SPF value of 15.
  • Transparent bottle.
  • Priced quite reasonably for the amount of product.
  • It has vitamin E and C that are known skin savers.
  • Dermatologically tested.

Cons of The Body Shop Oil-Free Balancing Foundation SPF 15:

  • Not suitable for all skin types, especially for dry skin.
  • If not used with a good moisturizer, it could leave dry patches.
  • Does not stay too long without touch ups.
  • It says it has medium to full coverage, I would say it is not full coverage even if you build it up, it is more than medium, but not full coverage.

So, have I found my perfect match, the answer for now is “yes.”

Would I Repurchase The Body Shop Oil-Free Balancing Foundation SPF 15?

No, because I like to try new products.

Overall, I would say this foundation is for those who need a lightweight foundation that does not look oily, greasy, and does not clog pores; not too matte; one that gives a nice coverage without much effort.

  1. glad to see this review cos I have not had the best luck with TBS makeup. TBS skincare I really like. If I even get bored of my clinique one, will try this.

btw, when is the next sunday bazaar? 🙂 love seeing stuff on sale..:) 🙂

  2. i love reading foundation review 🙂 i wonder when i ll be satisfied with one particular foundation. 🙂 love trying new stuff

  3. nice review….fits the bill perfectly for a summer foundation for oily skin….i love my MAC foundation, but it gets a bit too much for Delhi summer days… i wish i find my perfect match!!

  4. For people with dry skin, use Moisture Foundation SPF15
I don’t understand why people with dry skin use oil-free make-up. That’s intended for people with oily / combination skin.
Dry skin needs moisture that’s why products WITH moisturizers were invented.
    *sigh*
