Hey everyone,

I recently did a Body Shop haul for skincare and bath products. I picked up this Satsuma Exfoliating Body Polish because, I love citrus scents and the refreshing scent goes really well with the summer. Let’s see how this one fared for me.

My Experience with The Body Shop Satsuma Exfoliating Body Polish:

Packaging: The product comes in a transparent plastic tube with a flip cap. This makes it easy to dispense the product and you can see how much product is left in the tube. There are two variations you can buy in this product – 200 ml and 75 ml. The 75 ml tube is really travel-friendly. The ingredient list is enlisted on the back of the tube and it contains SLS (sodium laureth sulfate) which can be problematic for people who are allergic to it or have sensitive skin. As a biologist, I find it really annoying that companies don’t list the concentrations of the ingredients but in a descending order of their concentrations (ingredients with highest concentrations appear first in the list). If they start listing the ingredients’ concentrations, it will become easy to identify the potentially toxic products. Anyway, I have used this product a few times and so far, I haven’t encountered any irritations whatsoever.

Consistency and Exfoliation Power: The product is meant to be an exfoliator, but the consistency is something between a scrub and a shower gel. It is basically a shower gel with small beads in it. These beads are gentle enough for your skin, but the brand doesn’t recommend using it for the face. The citrus smell is amazing and it energises you. It also lingers on your skin afterwards and in the bathroom.

You need a small amount of product to exfoliate the entire body, so a little product goes a long way. The exfoliation is really gentle, not a very thorough one, so I think this product will be good for people with sensitive skin as well. After using the product, my skin felt really smooth, squeaky clean and soft. The effect lasts for 2-3 days. Unlike other body scrubs I have used in the past, this one is very gentle and makes your bath experience a very luxurious one, thanks to its scent. It doesn’t strip the skin of natural oils and sloughs away the dead skin cells. I didn’t use it for the face as it wasn’t recommended, so I think the beads are gentle enough for your skin, but not for your face.

Overall, I am happy with the smell and the gentle exfoliation action of this product. You need a small amount for your entire body. I would have appreciated it more if I could use it for my face, but for the time being I am using The Body Shop Vitamin C Glow Revealing Peel for that purpose and I am happy with it.
