The Body Shop Shea Beautifying Oil Review

Hi Lovelies,

The Body Shop Shea Beautifying Oil Review

I checked out Body Shop around 2 weeks ago and since I hadn’t purchased anything after the Body Shop Chocomania Shower Gel, I wanted to get some body care stuff from The Body Shop.  I checked out their new “Beautifying Body Oil” range as it was one of the newest products to be introduced along with some body mists.  I purchased the Shea Beautifying Oil and a body mist.  There was quite a big selection of beautifying oils available- Coconut, Shea, Olive, Strawberry, Mango, etc.  Essentially, they were the same products, but with different fragrances. I chose shea as it had the mildest fragrance. This was because I didn’t want it to clash with any of my lotions or perfumes.

The only body oil I have used so far is the Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Body Oil apart from Bio Oil, which I use on specific stretch mark prone areas. Palmer’s Body Oil is a good product and provides enough moisture for night time use. I also use it in the bath along with the bath foam. However, it is heavy for day time use and I am not too fond of the Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Oil bottle as it leaks as well leaving my dressing table in a puddle of oil. According to the SA, this lightweight oil can be used on body, hair and face. I was impressed as it looked a two-in-one product, I was not going to use it on my face though.

Body Oil

I have been paying extra attention to my hair recently as I have started ironing it regularly and try to take care of my hair well, so as to rectify the heat damage.

My Experience with The Body Shop Shea Beautifying Oil:

I am loving this product mainly because it smells so pleasant and light and is extremely lightweight than other body oils in the market. I have used this on my skin and hair, but feel this gave more benefits for my skin. Soon after showering and towelling, I apply this oil all over my body and leave a minute or two before getting dressed. This is because I don’t want the product to get wasted by getting soaked up. The product however sinks in quite fast and does not grease my clothes at all, so that wait is not necessary. I have applied the oil on my hair after towel drying and before using the hair dryer.

Additionally, I use it on dry hair, especially at the ends.  My skin was moisturised well because of this oil and felt soft and supple.  This is also easy and tempting to use as it is not greasy, so it gets used religiously by me 😛 On my hair; however, I didn’t feel much difference. I feel oil of Marrakesh, the argan oil I use is much better for the hair.

Shea Beautifying Oil

Pros of The Body Shop Shea Beautifying Oil:

  • Contains marula, sweet almond and kukui nut oils.
  • Conditions and moisturises skin adequately.
  • Lightweight and does not feel greasy at all on the skin.
  • Smells subtle and does not clash fragrance wise with other products such as lotion, perfume.
  • Comes in a sturdy bottle with no leakage and is designed to give out just enough product.
  • Good for travel as it is a 3-in-1 product, one bottle can be used on body, hair and face.

Cons of The Body Shop Shea Beautifying Oil:

  • Pricey for 100 ml.
  • Does not do wonders to my hair as promised.

Overall, this is a decent product and I am liking it; however, I am not too sure if it lives up to the hype.  This product however does not have too many competitors as there aren’t many brands of the same calibre which do body oils, so can’t compare performance.

    1. Hey Paritha,

I was watching this from the time it was lauched and was controlling myself from buying it waiting to first finish the palmers one I was using …..but then i gave in to temptation and no regrets 🙂

    1. Might be in India ….. But body shop Australia never ever has a sale 🙁 thats why im cross with them…

On boxing day All others like Crabtree&Evelyn and L’occitane have sales but not TBS 🙁

    1. Thanks Surabhi…… I love ur blog …..all articles are informative…..expecially the ones on relationships

  2. i am so getting this for winters. i love using oils in winters . they are the best moisturizers. thanks for the review supriya. this looks uber tempting. 🙂

  3. Will try on face next 🙂 I couldnt find many reviews for this product on the internet so stayed away from using on my face just in case

  4. Thanks Rati,…..do get it for winter …but since it isnt greasy at all should be fine for summer too,…only thing is product might get wasted when we sweat 🙂

These work almost well as the L’occitane almond oil but at a much reasonable price ….and all the different fragrances means it can be layered well…
