The Body Shop Skin Primer Matte It Review
Today, I am reviewing a product from Body Shop called “Skin Primer Matte It.” The good part about TBS is that it holds sales throughout the year, which gives us an opportunity to try some expensive ones from TBS 😉 Before Body Shop primer, I was using Maybelline primer. It was pretty good too, but when I bought Body Shop Oil Free Balancing Foundation with SPF 15, I thought why not try the primer as well. Read on to see how it has worked so far.
The Body Shop Matte It Skin Primer is a mattifying gel primer meant to absorb excess oil and leave behind a silky, shine-free finish. It’s a silicone-based gel that’s oil free and supposedly non-clogging for those with large pores.
Rs. 1095 for 25 ml.
Aloe vera gel is clinically proven to soothe and nurture the skin, and is naturally grown
Cyclomethicone, Polysilicone-11, Dimethicone, Cyclopentasiloxane, Cyclohexasiloxane, Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Flower Extract, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract.

What are Face Primers?
Primer is a product that you apply to your face before applying makeup. It smoothens and brightens your skin and preps it for foundation. Primer helps the foundation to apply more flawlessly, helps it to lasts for longer period.
My Experience with The Body Shop Skin Primer Matte It:
I have not tried many primers, but only after using primers I got to know that an extra step can really make your foundation experience a wonderful one. This primer feels super soft on my skin. Usually, I follow my skincare and then apply this primer before my foundation. It makes my face as smooth as silk and foundation gets applied amazingly. My face looks airbrushed and flawless. I must say, a pea size of this product is enough to cover my whole face. This primer also makes your pores look smaller.
Texture is like a gel, but lighter. It comes in a tube packaging with a screw cap. The tube is transparent and it is easy to check the product as in how much is left. It does help foundation to stay longer. It controls oil effectively. However, I do believe that I have to moisturize my face as usual; this primer does not do anything in terms of moisturizing the skin.
The product in the tube would last me at least 3-4 months.
Pros of The Body Shop Skin Primer Matte It:
- Fragrance free.
- Glides on easily.
- Transparent packaging.
- Gel-like light texture.
- Excellent base for foundation.
- Controls oil well.
- Shrinks pores.
Cons of The Body Shop Skin Primer Matte It:
- Doesn’t moisturize my skin.
Would I Repurchase The Body Shop Skin Primer Matte It?
No, I want to try other primers.
Overall, this is a great product for beginners. I know there are countless primers in the market, but this one does its job perfectly. Highly recommended!

Hi Deepa! It is for all skin types. I used the tbs foundation. I have done the review as well on IMBB. It is bodysop oil free balancing foundation spf 15. Thanks.
I also wanted to try this but then settled on MAC, maybe I will get it next!

Would you girls recommend this one over the loreal or bourjois one? I have to buy a primer in a few days and i am really confused.
Swati, I have not tried them so can’t say but this one is gud. Maybe anyone else on imbb who have tried should help us!

Aru, i used to ignore TBS makeup alot but there foundation never broke me out, that was a miracle as anything and everything was causing acne at that time 🙁 that changed my perception about tbs and tried other products like primer etc, they are pretty good too 🙂
