The Body Shop Tea Tree Squeaky Clean Scrub Review

The Body Shop Tea Tree Squeaky Clean Scrub Review

Hello Friends,

How are you doing today? I am enjoying shopping haul once again in my life 😛 Recently, my smart hubby allowed me to pick stuff of my choice for karvachauth gift (please read pre-karvachauth gift, I won’t let him go so easily ;)) So then, I just shopped for my favourite TBS skin care products and a few more goodies.  It was interesting to notice that TBS launched many gorgeous colour crush lipsticks and eye shadows last month. I picked one of the colour crush lipsticks which would be coming up very soon, till then, let me share the review of this new TBS Tea Tree squeaky Clean Scrub with you. Please read on further to know about TBS Tea Tree Squeaky Clean scrub.

My Experience with The Body Shop Tea Tree Squeaky Clean Scrub:

I never understand my hubby, his mind seems to be like a washing machine that always churns around, ending up in a mess every time.  We had boring Sundays last month, hence decided to walk down a mall, where he suddenly asked me to shop for my upcoming karvachauth fast. Man, how could I shop right now, I had no idea what to shop even! But he was like you have a chance to get what you want today or never 😛 Well, I was running short of my TBS skin care regimen and hence I decided to invest my karvachauth gift in skin care and I moved towards TBS store, after all, I had to show him that I can shop even without planning 😛 The SA, (who is more like a friend and neighbour now) introduced me to various newly-launched products and I was just drooling and thinking of looting her store 😛 Since hubby was my financer, I picked lots of stuffs to teach him a lesson too 😛 I hope he won’t ever mess with wifey now 😉

The Body Shop Tea Tree Squeaky Clean Scrub 5

I came home with the gorgeous, newly-launched pink colour crush lipsticks and this tea tree squeaky scrub apart from the usual stuff! This tea tree scrub seems like a face wash which works like a scrub as it forms lather and cleanses face like any other face wash. Just by looking at the scrub, you would feel as if it’s a face wash, it hardly looks like a scrub.  It is slightly runny and does contain very loose white micro beads like sooji/semolina.  I am used to St. Ives scrubs, hence it was quite interesting for me to try a runny liquid scrub for the first time.  I must say it works great as a face cleanser and up to a great extent as a face scrub too, but it is not good enough for my blackheads and whiteheads on the nose.  I felt that it temporarily clears off whiteheads around my chin and cheeks, but when I wake up the next morning, I can see those tiny whiteheads again piercing my cheeks and chin, sometimes especially on humid and warm days!

The Body Shop Tea Tree Squeaky Clean Scrub 6

My skin is oily and acne prone but quite sensitive and often when I use acne treatments on my skin, it turns colourful and bumpy. Even when I pluck my eyebrows, everyone knows about it as my face becomes red hot, like chilli 😛 But this scrub is a relief as it clears away redness and inflammation from my face apart from giving me the mild scrubbing effect. It literally removes dirt and dead skin from face as I can feel soft pink and smooth skin, sometimes while touching my squeaky clean face.  Moreover, I can see my open pores look visibly smaller and cheeks shine free after a wash though its a temporary effect which lasts for 6-8 hours, but I am happy still! Often I wake up with small zits here and there, hence I prefer to wash my face with this scrub at night to welcome a new day with clear and clean skin.

TBS Tea Tree Scrub

It gives me clear, oil-free and shine-free skin for 6-8 hours in a day, but remember never to use pressure while rubbing scrub on face and never use it more than 2-3 times a week as it seems mild but it’s really tough on zits and skin if used daily, believe me. Initially, I used it almost daily as it was so smooth and mild on the skin the first day.  I even massaged it with more pressure on my skin and soon those harsh, abrasive beads left my skin sore with stretchy and dry patches on the very fifth day of using it. Can you imagine, I started noticing fine lines while smiling and eating which became my bigger concern rather than acne. Even TBS pore minimiser and lotion failed to smooth my skin and I had to ultimately skip TBS skin care regimen for a week to get rid of stretchy and dry skin 😛 Thankfully, my skin rejuvenated again and now I am using this scrub only twice a week for clear skin. I believe it is good for oily and acne-prone plus combination and sensitive skin as well provided we limit its usage to 2-3 times a week and be gentle while massaging it on the face. It will be a great product during summers I feel.  This scrub is much better than my previous creamy TBS Tea Tree Scrub I must say. I am already on my way to finish half of the tube; however, I won’t get it again till summers arrive. My skin becomes slightly dry in winters, hence I may opt for homemade natural scrubs.  I noticed it contains SLS which is also bothering me. Other than that, I would love to use it occasionally for instant clean skin.

Let’s sum up the pros and cons:

Pros of The Body Shop Tea Tree Squeaky Clean Scrub:

  • A mild exfoliating scrub which forms lather and gives squeaky clean face.
  • It is gentle enough for most sensitive skin yet effective on zits and dirt, keeping them at bay temporarily.
  • Face feels soft, clean and oil free instantly without over drying.
  • The oil free and shine free effect lasts for 6-8 hours without using moisturizer.
  • The pores look visibly smaller and clear from white heads temporarily.
  • It has a very nice aroma with mild tea tree essence unlike other TBS tea tree stuff.

Cons of The Body Shop Tea Tree Squeaky Clean Scrub:

  • It is not good enough for black heads on my nose.
  • Since I use it twice a week, whiteheads emerge the very next day on my cheeks sometimes, hence I feel it is good only for occasional use.
  • I can see SLS in the ingredient list.
  • You cannot use it more than 2-3 times a week, it may make skin stretchy with dry patches.

Sharing my mini TBS haul with all of you 🙂
