I have never tried perfume oils before and this is my first experience with a fragrance from this genre. I have always found perfume oils old school and am more into body sprays and mists, but there is no good time than “now” to try out new things in life 😛 So, here’s the detailed review on The Body Shop White Musk Smoky Rose Perfume Oil.

My Experience with The Body Shop White Musk Smoky Rose Perfume Oil:
The oil comes in a beautiful pink-black bottle which is shaped like an ink bottle with a cap on top. The bottle holds 20ml of the product which seems an appropriate amount for the money paid. The tricky part is dispensing the product; the cap has a firm, plastic dropper with a hole at the end, but I am not sure how to use it since there is no way to squeeze the product out of it like a regular dropper. Eventually, I gave up trying to figure out how to use it and now, I just press my finger on the mouth of the bottle and tip it to dispense some product.
The fragrance has, as the name suggests, strong undertones of rose and something smoky like musk, but it doesn’t make it masculine. I really enjoy the aroma of this perfume. I apply it near my ears, my collar bones, my pulse points and sometimes even rub a little to my hair since hair holds the fragrance the longest. I love the fragrance and also get compliments whenever I wear it.
The wear time of the perfume oil, on the other hand, is not worth an applause. It will last an hour or so on its own, but I usually pair it with the perfume spray from the same range and that enhances the staying power to a few more hours, but again not as long as I desire, and has to be reapplied. So, to enjoy those compliments, I have to reapply the product.
This product has consistency of a low viscosity oil and is easy to spread on skin. It doesn’t burn or irritate my skin, so I guess, it is relatively alcohol free and even though it is an “oil,” it doesn’t stain clothes. On the downside, neither the packaging or the website has any information about the ingredients in the oil which is very surprising for a brand like “The Body Shop.”
Pros of The Body Shop White Musk Smoky Rose Perfume Oil:
- The product comes in a very appealing packaging. The beautiful bottle is a major-selling point of this product.
- The bottle contains 20ml of oil which is a good quantity for $20
- The fragrance is mesmerizing, it has strong rose aroma and undertones of something smoky and earthy.
- The Body Shop products are readily available in most of the countries.
- The perfume oil is easy to spread and does not stain clothes.
Cons of The Body Shop White Musk Smoky Rose Perfume Oil:
- No ingredient list is provided, either on the packaging or the website.
- The dropper provided with the bottle is useless and does not dispense product, unless there is some trick to it that I am unaware of.
- The fragrance does not last for long, even when paired with the lotion and perfume spray from the same range
Verdict:
I enjoy the aroma a lot, but it is highly unlikely that I will repurchase this product because of its low staying power, but it is a fun product to try for $20.
