Taare Zameen Par:
This was a beautiful movie about a dyslexic child, who struggles with the most basic everyday things. In today’s world, almost all the parents want their kids to excel in studies and they put a lot of pressure on them. This movie talked about how every child is special and unique, and has special needs.

Chak De India:
Hockey is the national sport of India, but the fact that it is so ignored, was highlighted very well in this movie. This movie also depicted gender inequality even in sports. This was also the movie, which very much revived the sport and brought it back into limelight.
Mujhe states ke naam na sunai dete hai na dikhai dete hai … sirf ek mulk ka naam sunai deta hai I-N-D-I-A.
Rang De Basanti:
This movie gives a sense of pride and patriotism to everyone, who watches this movie. The way a bunch of youngsters fought against the corrupt government and they all died in the end, will bring tears to everybody. This is a movie, which inspire us to do something for our country. After all, it just takes one step from each one of us.
Zindagi jeene ke do hi tarike hote hai … ek jo ho raha hai hone do, bardaasht karte jao … ya phir zimmedari uthao usse badalne ki.
Widow remarriage was considered taboo in our country. Widows were left alone on their own and were forced to live the life of misery. This movie came as a breath of fresh air, which focussed on the way a widow can get married again and deserves to live a happy life.
Reet rivaaz insaan ki sahuliyat ke liye banaye jaate hai … insaan reet rivaazo ke liye nahi.
It is one of the highest grossing movies of all time and this movie gives out the perfect message that education does not require money, uniform, big schools and colleges. All it requires, is the strong will to study. This movie was highly entertaining and spoke about cut throat competition in getting into good colleges and also sky high cut-offs.

Matrabhoomi: A Nation Without Women:
This movie has a heart wrenching story of a girl, who is forced to marry 5 brothers because of lack of girls in her locality. She is raped and abused by 5 brothers and her father-in-law. The girl is killed in the end, as she was carrying a girl child within her. This movie talks about the social issues of female foeticide and female infanticide and the way all these things are practised in remote villages of India.

My Name Is Khan:
After the 9/11 incident, muslims were treated really bad in western countries. They all were looked down upon by people. Just because few bad people belong to a particular religion, it does not make the entire religion bad. This movie captures that beautifully that not all Muslims are terrorists. People are bad, but not the religion.
My name is khan and I am not a terrorist.
My Brother Nikhil:
This movie talked about 2 topics to which so many stigmas are attached, i.e. HIV/AIDS and homosexual relationships. The protagonist develops AIDS and the way he is isolated from the society, forms the base of the story. This is definitely a must watch movie.
