Boots Botanics 100% Organic Facial Oil – Not For Sensitive Skin!

Boots Botanics 100% Organic Facial Oil – Not For Sensitive Skin!

Hi IMBB,

Sorry for not posting reviews in such a long time here! I have been super busy with work and haven’t had time to sit down and write a good review, but I will endeavor to write more reviews this month! I’m going to start off my December reviews by reviewing the Boots Botanics Facial Oil.  I have already reviewed a product from this brand before, the rose water toning spritz and I have also used a body lotion from this brand, so I am no stranger to this brand.  If you want to know what my thoughts are of this product, please keep on reading!

My Take on Boots Botanics 100% Organic Facial Oil:

Let me start off by telling you why I decided to buy this product. I was drawn to this facial oil, mainly because it was 100% organic. It contains no nasty chemicals such as parabens or sulphates and it only contains a mix of essential oils that seemed really appealing to me because I have sensitive skin and I don’t want to use too many harsh chemicals on my face. As well as this, using products containing harsh chemicals can not only irritate the skin by causing breakouts, but it can also cause the skin to age faster since they effect the pH of the skin and can strip the skin off natural oils.

In this product, not only are the ingredients chemical free, but they are organic which makes a really big difference. Oils that are not organic are not always good for the skin because they can be processed and therefore do more harm than good for the skin. When buying oils to use on your skin, try and use oils that are of the best quality, they might cost more, but are worth it, since you are using it on your skin and will benefit it greatly.

The facial oil comes in a small glass bottle with a little pipette so you can squeeze out drops of the oil. I really like the packaging because it avoids wastage of product since only a small amount is dispersed with each squeeze of the product, only a little bit of this product is needed for the face.

I was a little dubious about the small bottle that this product comes in because the product is not super cheap, but a little amount goes a long way, so I think it is worth it. The scent of this product is sweet and smells a bit like citrus, it has quite a strong scent.

Now, I am going to talk about the effects that this facial oil had on my skin. I am very disappointed to say that this product actually didn’t benefit my skin at all. In fact, I think it made it worse. I now realize that this is because my skin is reacting to the essential oils in a bad way.

Therefore I wouldn’t say this product is terrible because everyone’s skin is different and therefore just because this product hasn’t worked for me, doesn’t mean it won’t work for you. I am just warning you that if you do decide to buy this product, if you have sensitive skin, it might react to the essential oil content in the product.

I found that my skin was starting to get little white heads and also felt quite bumpy and inflamed.  It did leave my skin feeling quite moisturized because the oil is quite thick, but it didn’t improve the texture, it just left it feeling irritated.

Pros of Boots Botanics 100% Organic Facial Oil:

  • Organic ingredients.
  • No harsh chemicals/parabens.
  • A little amount of product goes a long way.
  • Good packaging.

Cons of Boots Botanics 100% Organic Facial Oil:

  • Essential oils can cause breakouts.
  • Heavy scent.
  • May not be suitable for sensitive skin.

Would I Repurchase Boots Botanics 100% Organic Facial Oil?

No.

IMBB Rating:

2.5/5

So, although this product contains no harsh chemicals, the essential oils unfortunately affected my skin in a bad way and I stopped using it. It is such a shame because I thought I had found a product that would benefit my skin, as it contains no nasty chemicals, but my skin is just not dealing well with the essential oils.  At least I know now not to buy products with a high essential oil content because it can affect my skin badly and I also warn you guys, if your skin is sensitive, use this product with caution.  It is unfortunate that my experience with this product was not so good, but that does not mean I won’t continue to use other products from this range!

Thanks for reading and I hope I will come back again with a more positive review!

  1. not for me either 🙁 super sensitive dry skin . . . Most of the oil just stays on my skin and looks like a layer 🙁 makes my skin look darker 🙁 i have to be content with the almond oil only . . .

  2. Not for my skin at all because I have very sensitive, oily and acne prone skin! Would definitely skip this…Lovely review Abby 🙂 You really saved our money ^_^
