Bourjois Delice De Poudre Bronzing Powder Review

Bourjois Delice De Poudre Bronzing Powder Review

Hi Beauties,

First of all, I would like to wish all of you a very happy Id, May God bless you all and your families on this auspicious occasion. Today, I am reviewing a product which has been my Holy Grail product since 3 years. I was just surprised that it has not been reviewed on IMBB yet. People, all over the world, of different countries and colors and races, are the same at heart. We always think that the grass is greener on the other side of the fence. The very pale skin people are always out in the sun, getting tanned. They do not like their pale, white, fair skin, and are always ready to add some warmth on their faces and some tan on their bodies. They use makeup and even fake tan machines; to get a nice, tanned, healthy glowing look.

Bourjois Delice De Poudre Bronzing Powder

The products they use for tanning are mainly bronzers. But in India, I think that most of the people (especially the females), are obsessed on getting fairer. Nowadays, we also have many fairness creams for men in the market. Everyone wants to have fair, metrosexual type of look. Hence, the purchase and application of bronzers in India is still in its infant stage. After all, why would anyone apply a bronzer and get tanned; when we are already brown and tanned. It’s only recently that some drugstore Indian brands have started coming up with bronzers.  My relationship with bronzer started less than 3 years ago. I was extremely slim prior to my pregnancy with naturally hollow cheek bones. But post pregnancy, all the contours and curves of my face (in fact my whole body) seemed to have got filled up. I now had cheeks, my cheek bones seemed to have vanished totally. My first foray into a bronzer was with the intention of contouring my face and though my post pregnancy fat has reduced now, I still use a bronzer mainly for contouring. The product I am reviewing today was my first ever bronzer, and I can confidently say that even now, this is my HG bronzer. I have never felt any need of trying out something else.

Bourjois Delice De Poudre Bronzing Powder

Bronzers come in two types – the matte ones and the shimmery ones. The matte bronzer is mainly for contouring your face. The technique is simple enough. You have to suck your cheeks in; and then move your brush on the edges of your face; starting from the forehead hairline to the hollow of the cheek created (up to a line drawn vertically from the outer edge of your eyes), and then from under the cheek bones right up to the neck and chin area (so as to create a 3-like shape on each side of the face.  The shimmery bronzers are mainly for those who want a warm, tanned, sun-kissed look on their face. This one has to be dusted on to the high points of the face where the sun would normally hit your face; that is the top of your cheekbones, forehead, and bridge of nose.

My Experience with Bourjois Delice De Poudre Bronzing Powder:

I do not know why the good products do not reach India, or often reach very late; or are suddenly withdrawn from here. This particular product belongs to the last category. It was released here, had a good fan following; but then it suddenly disappeared from the shelves. I thought maybe this product has been permanently discontinued; but no!!! To my surprise, I found it on the shelves in UK, though this shade was not available at the time. My relative sent me this when it became available a few weeks later.

Bourjois Delice De Poudre Bronzing Powder

To say that I love this product would be an understatement, I am obsessed with it! Since I got this new one, I have chucked out my previous one (since it was anyway at least 3 years old). I am delighted to say that Bourjois have not changed this product at all. The bronzer comes in 2 shades, #51 (for fairer skin) and #52 (for medium skin tone). They also have a highlighter in a similar type of packaging.

The bronzer comes in a tiny book-like cardboard packaging, which closes with a magnetic clasp. The packaging, though made of cardboard, is quite sturdy, and can be easily carried during travels. Inside, it contains 16.5 gm of product (yes, quite a lot). The bronzer inside is rectangular in shape and looks just like Cadbury Dairy Milk Chocolate. The fragrance is superb, very yummy; just like chocolate; which you would immediately want to eat.

Bourjois Delice De Poudre Bronzing Powder

It has very minute golden shimmer particles in it that are seen only if you observe it very closely. However, it applies completely matte on the skin; the shimmer particles are not visible at all. The pigmentation is good, though quite sheer. So, it is an excellent choice for beginners as you can slowly build up the color. It applies very smoothly on to the skin, and does not clog or enhance any pores at all. It stays for around 6-7 hours on my skin, which is adequate for me; however, you may always reapply it as and when needed.

I apply it with my MAC contour brush (the slanted one). It picks up the bronzing powder very well. The powder is not chalky at all, and also does not have any fall out. In fact, it applies very smoothly on the skin, giving an almost silky feel. The shade #52 is excellent for my skin; it does not have any obvious orange undertones to it. It is a pretty brownish peachy shade, which will work across many skin tones, but since it has only two shades available, it might not show up on very dusky beauties.

Bourjois Delice De Poudre Bronzing Powder

Though this is my HG bronzer, it is not without its faults. And the main fault, which I discovered soon after I started using the first one; is that the surface tends to get hard and develop an oily film on it. After this, how much ever you try, you will not get any product on to your brush. This is mainly due to transfer of facial oils or makeup products via the brush or your fingers. The best way to avoid this is to avoid touching it frequently with your fingers and washing the brush frequently. However, if this has already happened, you have to scrape off the top layer of the bronzer with any flat instrument; but this does lead to product wastage.

Pros of Bourjois Delice De Poudre Bronzing Powder:

  • Inexpensive.
  • Sturdy, gorgeous packaging, can be carried on travels.
  • The bronzer looks like a chocolate (aesthetically pleasing).
  • Nice, yummy chocolate-like fragrance.
  • Shimmer particles do not translate on skin; so for practical purposes, it is a matte bronzer.
  • The powder is very soft and not at all chalky.
  • The pigmentation is good, but sheer; so good for beginners.
  • Very good amount of product is provided.
  • Contours the face extremely well, giving a very natural look.
  • Blends with the skin well.
  • No fall out, not chalky at all.
  • No orangish undertone.
  • Does not clog pores or accentuate them.
  • Non-comedogenic; dermatologist tested.

Cons of Bourjois Delice De Poudre Bronzing Powder:

  • Not available in India now.
  • Only available in two shades; so dusky beauties might face a problem.
  • May develop an oily film on top, which has to be scraped off, leading to product wastage.
  • No mirror or brush provided.

IMBB Rating:

4.3/5

Would I Recommend Bourjois Delice De Poudre Bronzing Powder?

Yes, if you can get your hands on one. This is an extremely good, sheer, matte and inexpensive bronzer; which is excellent for contouring purposes. It can be easily used by beginners. The amount of product provided is huge; and will last you a long time. Truly value for money.
