Bourjois Happy Light Foundation Review

Bourjois Happy Light Foundation

Hello Pretty ladies,

Since the temperature is a little bearable now in the place where I stay, I wanted a break from my heavy duty MAC foundations and try something light and skin-like. Hunting for a good foundation for someone with oily-sensitive skin is always a pain. So one day while I was randomly trying to search for a foundation with the above mentioned qualities, I came across so many YouTube gurus rave about a foundation which sounded perfect for me. So without a second thought I went ahead and purchased this beauty, Bourjois Happy Light Foundation. I matched to shade N 53, Golden Beige. Read on to find out my opinions on this product.

My take on Bourjois Happy Light Foundation:

Packaging:

The first thing which attracted me to this product was its packaging. It looks just so cute with pinkish coral pump and not to forget, the smiley which makes me feel happy looking at the very bottle 😛

The foundation is housed in a glass bottle. The pump works smooth, thus hygiene issues are taken care. The shade (N 53, Golden Beige in my case) is mentioned on the lid as well as on the body of the bottle.

The packaging is not cumbersome and thus can be carried in your makeup bag. Initially I was a little skeptical about carrying it since it was a glass bottle, but I faced no issues with it whatsoever.

Texture:

Slightly gel like, slightly Serum like texture. Yes you heard that right. The consistency is extremely light and runny. This foundation amazed me the first time I put it on my face. It feels like you are applying a skin care serum with a little tint and not a foundation. I fell in love with it right away.

Ease of Application and Coverage:

If the foundation is smoothed on the face with fingers, it takes less than 10 seconds to apply on my complete face and neck. It is that easy to work with, takes zero efforts in blending. However with this application, the coverage achieved is Very light, as that of a tinted moisturizer.

If the foundation is applied with a foundation brush, it gives far more better coverage which is light to medium. Still no efforts are required to blend and need not hurry up as it does not set immediately.

Even when the foundation is layered on to achieve a better coverage; it does not look cake-y at all. This is one of the best foundation I have come across, which makes me look oh-so-natural and healthy and plump. It just blurs out the imperfections in the most natural manner and makes your face look healthier and glow-y .

Shades:

I don’t know if it is only with me, but the shade which I opted for was perfect was what I thought while swatched in the store. But when I got back and applied it on my entire face, it went a tad bit dark on my face. I have heard similar issue with another friend of mine. However after topping it with a compact powder it adjusts to my skin tone without any effort. By this, I suggest you to go for a shade lighter than usual for this foundation. For reference I match to NC 40 in MAC pro-longwear foundation.

Finish and Longevity:

On my ever oily skin, the foundation settles to a satiny finish which is between dewy and matte, and I adore how natural and healthy it looks. It makes my face shine-y but not greasy, after 3 hours of application. However with light blotting, it goes fresh again.

Beauties with dry-normal-combination skin would be able to wholly enjoy the benefits of 8hours hydration as claimed by Bourjois. It does not go patchy or streaky whatsoever.

I have worn this foundation for straight 14 hours, and at the end of 6-8 hours I can see the foundation is half gone from my face.Oily skin madness. But even then I can see that the foundation does not oxidize no irritation and no eruptions. It has a pleasant fragrance which vanishes two minutes after application, so nothing too unbearable. And oh did I mention, it photographs amazingly well.

Overall, it is a fantastic foundation which actually suits a range of skin types(dry-normal-combination-oily), goes light and glow-y on the skin providing light to medium coverage.

Lastly, agree to the color thing.. Pick a shade lighter .. I also picked 52 after checking the sample which turned out orangey/dark at home .. The very next day, took it back to the SA who gave me a shade 51 which matched perfectly!!
