Ever since I read a review regarding a particular primer on IMBB, I have been thinking of getting one myself. My favourite one till now has always been Clarins Beauty Flash Balm. When the primers came to the market, I checked them out at the stores. But I was really repelled by the slimy, silicony texture of primers. Yes, I know all the advantages of primers, but still could not bring myself to buy one. However, since the review of primer which I read the other day, I went to my favourite cosmetics brand “Bourjois” and checked out if they have a primer; and whether the primer will be to my liking. Well, Bourjois has two primers in their kitty, one for dry to normal skin; and one for combination to oily skin. I could not believe it…. I had totally overlooked these primers; since I was never that much into primers. I tried out the one for dry to normal skin, loved it, bought it; and have been using and loving it the past few days.

My experience with Bourjois Happy Light Luminous Serum Primer :
Personally speaking, I never liked products, especially skin products, which have a slimy texture with silicones very high up on the list. Although I know that they give skin a very nice and flawless finish, still I could not use them. My search for a primer which I actually liked, ended with this product.
The primer comes in a glass bottle, with a pump dispenser. It looks just like any other Bourjois foundation bottle, but only slimmer in size (since it has 15 ml product). I must say that I have always loved the packaging of Bourjois products, they look like any high end brand (and Chanel is its sister concern); but also comes at a much cheaper price. The only flaw I could detect here was; why on earth did they make the bottle out of glass? Granted, that I have dropped it once and it did not crack at all; but still I would have preferred a plastic bottle.
The product is pink in color; yes PINK!!! One glance at it; and any yellow skin-toned person would reject it outright. However, the primer spreads easily onto the skin, and becomes totally transparent. It does not impart any ashy look to the skin at all. The texture is soft and light weight, almost like a moisturiser, and has a mild floral and fresh fragrance to it. It feels just like a moisturiser when applied to the face; but contains silicones (albeit way down the list) to justify its role as a primer.
The pump dispenser is excellent, and delivers just a small amount of product. One to two pumps of the product are enough to cover both face and neck area.
The product is called luminous, but do not worry. It does not have any shimmery or glittery particles at all. It does not make the face look oily or greasy. In fact, it is so light weight, that after a few minutes of application, you will hardly feel its presence on your skin. It provides a radiant, healthy look to the complexion, and provides hydration to the skin, yet feels matte on touch. It helps to conceal my pores, yet hydrates any dry patches on my skin; without making the rest of the skin look oily.
I have used it alone on the skin, along with powder; and also underneath a foundation; and I have not been disappointed with any of the results. When used alone, It acts almost like a moisturiser; and provides a soft, supple and radiant appearance to the skin. With powder, it can be your “My Face But Better” look. When used underneath a foundation; it provides a smooth base for the foundation and prolongs the staying power of my makeup by atleast 5-6 hours.
However, Bourjois claims that this will provide an airbrushed effect to the skin. It does blur my pores and fine lines to a certain extent; but I will not go to the extent of calling it an “airbrushed” look. However, this is my experience with the luminous primer; whether the matte primer provides the airbrushed look; I have no idea.
