I thought it was appropriate to share this little conversation I had with the Bourjois SA & I was utterly utterly sure that she got a bit carried away after our exhaustive BB-CC cream talks & swatches. But she wasn’t. Hell, BB gloss! How cool is that?

So it wasn’t really a planned trip to Bourjois, I only thought of picking up a few color tattoos & my baby lips refills from Maybelline but eventually I found myself walking up to their counter & asking for the velvet lipsticks they recently launched. I was SHATTERED to hear that they are yet to launch in Kolkata. Ugh ugh ugh.

I had my eyes set on Peach Club & the lady probably read my mind & held up two not-so-old launches, BB gloss 5 in one!

INR 785. Hallelujah! I had no idea that I would live to see the day when a Bourjois lip product costs less than 800 bucks.

My Experience With Bourjois Paris BB Gloss 5 in One #02

The Bourjois BB glosses come in a hard plastic slim tube minus the curves like the Effet 3D ones & a black twist out cap. It’s nothing fancy but I found them very very very very attractive. Don’t you reckon the shade just looks soooo amazing in the packaging?

BB glosses come in just two shades, don’t ask me why. #01 is a cool sheer pink with blue undertones, mentioned as the one for fair complexion. I didn’t go for it because I just stuffed my vanity with some four-five shine caresses & they are, yes, somewhat same to the #01.

#02 is a orange coral, depicted as the one for olive & medium complexions. Although, I disagree. Corals are absolutely universal & ofcourse, I’m biased. 😛 The shade looks an ominous ominous orange in the tube but when you swatch it on your forearm, it’s a subtle mix of orange & pink tones which makes it such an eyecandy. 😀

The applicator is as simple as it gets. A plastic wand with a little & sharp adjustable tip. I’d rather prefer these to the slanted ones as application is easier & you don’t get any trouble filling the corner of your lips whatsoever! I was literally shocked when I wore it on my lips. The color payoff, I don’t even know if you could call it one is barely there. You technically have to dig into your mirror to catch the lightest of the light hint of peachy orange. My mouth hung open for a good five minutes. Classic case of how much tubes can be misleading. My lips are mediumly pigmented because I chew on them in my past time & I have sincere doubts if the color will show any bit on highly pigmented lips or darker complexions.

Testing the claims, it does live up amazingly. The hydration is top notch, the shine is impeccable & it smoothes out the driest of lips with ease!

Pros of Bourjois Paris BB Gloss 5 in One #02

• Attractive shade, in-the-container wise!
• Fantastic hydration.
• Your lips feel smooth & balmy even after the shine wears off.
• Longwear. Alone lasts about four hours & on any matte lipstick, about 6 hours.
• Indeed indeed a BB gloss. Quite a creation 😀
• No sparkly pigments whatsoever. I personally dislike them a great deal.
• Like most of the Bourjois glosses, has some plumping effect. Look ma, my lips are so full! 😛
• Precise applicator.

Cons of Bourjois Paris BB Gloss 5 in One #02

• Highly misleading packaging. This is why you should always swatch a gloss/lipstick on your lips as well as forearm before you buy!
• Sheer to the max pigmentation. Will not show up on dark lips or complexions at all.
• Costly. *insert my usual why Bourjois is so damn pricey rant*
• Why doesn’t it have a name? I would’ve named it Coral Veil!
• Only two shades in the range. Both light & sheer. A hot pink or a plum would’ve been wow in this formula.
• Availability. I remember two other Bourjois counters not having it

Overall Thoughts on Bourjois Paris BB Gloss 5 in One #02

This is really one of those see-saw products. The formula is first class but the color pay off is absolutely disappointing. I don’t really mind it. Firstly, I don’t believe in clear glosses, jeez the applicator gets so messy & unless you clean it, it’s practically no-point to use with different lipsticks. So this one, along with my Revlon Colorburst Gloss in Pink Ice work as the clear glosses for corals, oranges & reds, browns respectively! Secondly, I’m having to think about college makeup of late. Shame that I can’t really wear my vampy pouts anymore 😛 So this BB gloss also works for me, not too much color but not colorless either. 😀 And lastly, it’s sooooo manipulative. Here I topped it on Maybelline Bold Matte #4 & created a summer-spring orange-red 😀 The possibilities are countless, it looks fantastic over YSL Orange Impertinent, Lakme 9 to 5 Red Chaos, L’oreal Paris Moist Matte Lincoln Rose etc. That’s any matte red or orange or red-pink!!! 😀

Would I recommend Bourjois Paris BB Gloss 5 in One #02?

 Yes, if you like sheer subtle glosses.
 Yes, if you like to top of your matte lipsticks with something not too clear.
 Yes, if you don’t mind the color pay off but love a hydrating balmy veil on your lips for hours!
 Yes, if you have 800 bucks to waste on a clear gloss. 😛
 No, if your complexion is anywhere below the usual 03 skintone.
 No, if your lips are highly pigmented.
 No, if you don’t like your gloss to cling on to your lips!

Would you repurchase Bourjois BB Gloss 5 in One #02?

Not even with your money.
Unless they launch darker shades or improve the pigmentation.
